I'm pretty shocked at Lawrence so far. What a start.

Doesn't look like a fluke start either.

If tha patriots make the playoffs with this defense Brady should be the obvious choice

Alex Smith front runner for MVP right now.

This is gonna be hilarious when he wins it All you ph@gs discrediting him over the years calling him a game manager and saying this and that despite the fact the dude continues to ball out and win. It's the problem in this fantasy age where people think throwing 300+ passing yards is defined as good QB but struggle in other areas.

Well first off the term 'game manager' needs to stop being viewed as a negative, that's essentially what Brady is. Why is it considered bad for a QB to go through the motions like he is supposed to rather than go off script? The only time a QB needs to go off script is when the line collapses and Alex Smith improvises fantastic on his feet.

Game managing being seen as a bad thing has always been stupid.

game manager implies you have all the pieces around you to be a successful team, so long as the qb doesn't **** up. a game managers role isn't to win you games, it's to not lose you games.

in a league that glorifies and vilifies quarterbacks, it only makes sense that a game manager is viewed as bad.

a GM QB is essentially a QB who plays conservative so he neither wins your or lose games for you

You can't rely on a GM's arm to win you games, ala Prescott right now

and Brady hasn't been a game manager in years, and he goes off the script multiple times in a game lol, it's called audibles

To me a game manager is a QB that doesn't go off script and just sticks to what the play was designed to do...there is no running around gun slinging.

Basically it's a QB doing wtf they are supposed to be doing.

To me, Brady is the ultimate game manager...and that is NOT a bad thing. He is doing what he is supposed to do.

Being reckless and wild should be seen as the negative...but it isn't because when it works it is the most entertaining thing to watch so fans praise it.

Yeah a GM is what a QB was supposed to do like 30 years ago, the game changed and offenses focused on gun slinging and what not. What Matt Ryan did last year isn't consider game managing, but he almost had no control of the the play calling, so by your definition he was a game manager.

Essentially a GM is what an ideal QB would be 30-40 years. A guy who plays in a run heavy offense where his arm is rarely used to win games

Hes making more clutch plays than I've ever seen him make in his career this year. He still panics quite a bit under pressure but I have no complaints with his play so far.

It doesn't change that he's constantly outplayed and over matched by other AFC QBs in the playoffs and that will continue this year. Chiefs will win around 12 games again and yet he will lose to the patriots or Steelers because Brady/big Ben are that much better.

If Smith is actually an MVP caliber QB then he has no excuses not to win it all because he has the most help of any QB in the league.

We will see.

Personally I think Hunt is the MVP of the Chiefs and the NFL.

I agree with this

Brady and Rodgers manage the game well... But they also win you games consistently by making big plays with their arm. A game manager QB rarely wins you games... they just limit mistakes and play conservative. It works for the Chiefs but put Smith on a team like the saints and it would be a disaster

Put Brady on the saints and they make the playoffs. That's the difference

Watching Alex Smith play in Reid's spread offense is refreshing. don't forget this is the offense that smith played in college under Urban Meyer. He's perfect for it as he's very athletic and he doesn't make costly mistakes in the spread offense which many QBs are notorious for doing that offense. Alot of people give credit to the Chiefs running game, and rightfully so, but a big reason they have that success is because Smith is a dual threat QB. Teams can't focus on the running game as Smith can easily pull the ball and run for a nice gain. Ironically, Reid is pulling off an offense that a coach like Chip Kelly dreamed of pulling off in Philly. KC's offense is so fast paced, versatile and efficient. It also doesn't help to have Kelce who is probably the best tight end in the league. He's just an all around threat.

It's just a shame that the landscape of the NFL when he was drafted was so non-reluctant to offenses like the spread offense as they were considered ''gimicky''. Worst of all the niners gave him an NFL head coach who didn't have a clue about offenses in Mike Nolan. The 49ers early on tried to make him this traditional QB which didn't match his skillets. It's a lesson to teams in the NFL. If you're gonna pick a QB first overall make sure you give him an offensive minded coach that can develop him and play to his strengths.

Brady is 2-2 with a defense that's comparable to how bad the saints have been for years.

Brees much tougher division. Two of the last NFC superbowl teams have bee from the division .

Last time I checked the winner is determined by points not yards.
