Default Dribbling under intense defensive pressure........

Guys,

I need some tips on dribbling the ball when the guy is body to body with you and you have no where to go. How can you effectively advance the ball up court without getting stripped and relieving the defensive pressure?

Any tips would be great.

What I do is get low to the ground. Dribble the ball as close to the ground as possible and lower your opposite shoulder into the defender a bit. As you lower your shoulder push the ball ahead and explode by your man. The key is to keep the ball low and move as fast as you can. Works for me just about every time.

Keep this in the back of your mind:

unless you are doubled to the point that you are stymied:

Never EVER give up your dribble.

Keep that thought process in the back of your head at all times.

as for tips and tricks, practice spinning and crossovers (doing the between the legs is technically called a "Between the Legs Crossover." When I say crossover I simply mean using your right hand, and dribbling the ball to your left side and vice versa. something else you could try is changing the speed at which your bring the ball up.

always remember, when dribbling, if you can get your opposite shoulder in front of the guy guarding you, he is beat.

if someone is guarding you that close you should be able to blow past him easily

i think it depends on size and strength and speed. if ur faster, cross him over, if ur stronger b a gary payton and back him down halfcourt and size just intimidate him

protect the ball with your body, atleast you get a foul with you if he tries to strip to ball from you if you protect it right.

stay in the middle part of the court. stay away from the sides as much as possible. if he's guarding you too close, keep on changing directions by dribling low and using simple spin moves, fakes and hesitation moves. wait for the oportunity to beat your oponent. be patient and dont panic.

if your not the point guard, give the damn ball to the pg hehe

against casual street opposition, I actually like to dribble down teh sideline, even if they throw two guys and try to trap me because that opens the top of the floor open for my slashers.

Dribble low and turn your back to them. If they know you're getting nervous and pressured, they're going to try to take the ball or poke it away. Just protect the ball with your back and wait for an opening. Dribbling low is key, and not panicking.
