They do need the school. And honestly, the competition that 2012 team faced in practice every day was better than most opponents they played on the road. That helps them get better. The coaches help them refine their craft. How many college programs run NBA style offenses? I can count them on one hand.

There's a reason spread QBs in college aren't drafted as highly as QBs who take snaps from under center. Because the NFL takes snaps under center.

Add to the fact that they can compete for a national title, they get to play against top level competition day in and day out, and probably get their ***** sucked like 15 times a day...

There's a lot of reasons to attend UK. Its a prestige thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZu610nSdYE

Here's John Wall breaking down in tears during his UK HOF acceptance speech. UK alumni come back every year and play a game for the fans. Cousins, Davis, Bledsoe, Booker. They all come back. Cousins had a full court basketball court installed in his backyard with the UK logo on it. Not the Kings logo, or the Pelicans logo. The Kentucky logo.

Tell me again how UK is just 'some school'.

More people attend UKs first practice then attend ANY NBA games. Its a sellout. People are lined up right now for tickets to be available on Friday. Its much, much more then just 'a team', like you see in the NBA.

Again top prospect dont need schools. Ben simmons made LSU primetime, people tuned in just to watch him, sports show like first take would make segments only talking about him .... speaking of brand, dude got injured his first year... outside of maybe lebron and blake who the last guy who had a brand name his first year in the league? AD,wall, boogie are all vets in the game at this point and kat & booker are going in their 3rd season. Markelle fultz only won 9 ****ing games and he got hype and lets not start with lonzo he made UCLA relevant with his dad. Plus all those perks u describe will happen at every big school. Guys will get their D scked anywhere if they can ball . Lol cousiins played for the kings and now a pelican, his best time was at UK cuz they actually won games.

Ben Simmons made that school a laughing stock. I talk on numerous college basketball boards, and when he was at LSU, all anyone ever did was make fun of him, and the school. That team was shit, the coach was shit, and Simmons got shit on for having a bad attitude every game he played.

Fultz was cool, but nobody really knew who he was (outside of CBB fans) up until it came closer to the draft. It didn't hurt his draft stock, obviously, but he doesn't have near the brand Wall had when he came out at UK, despite the fact that ESPN has been hyping him up for months and can now hype him up along with Embiid.

Lonzo has his dad. That's all he really needs. UCLA wasn't relevant, but he was.

Kentucky has their alumni game aired on ESPNU. No other school can claim that. UK also had their Big Blue Madness air on ESPN, and it became so popular that other teams started to copy it and then ESPN decided to air everyone's as well. UK was the first school to hold an NBA pro day, which also aired on ESPN. No other school had done such a thing, but now Duke is trying to copy it. UK also had their PRE-SEASON games against random DR and French teams aired on ESPN. No other school has done that.

Deny it all you want, but Kentucky moves the needle in college basketball. Really, Kentucky and Duke. Those two schools, in terms of prestige, innovation, and coverage, are far ahead of anyone else.

Its 2017 bro none of tha shit maters today. all that talk about the schools is the same about how nba players dream of playing in a big market to further their brand. If u big time , u could be in LA or in okc the sponsor money will come after u . Same thing for Schools. All that talk about how kentucky is always on tv make sense only for the above-average to good players. For the great ones, the lotto picks, wherever they go the cameras will come. KD was a beast at texas and he was getting his shine, u remember beasly at k-state? derrick rose at memphis? This is the social media era. with hoopmixtape, ball is life ect players now can make a name for themselves while in highschool and go to college now not only with a local buzz but with the whole nation knowing who they are. U think zion williamson needs UK or duke? he could go to any D1 school and if he still his crazy athletic asf and doing crazy dunks all the cameras will be on him.

Stephen A Smith trying to point out that this is a racist thing because all four of the coaches who were arrested yesterday were black.

Give me a ****ing break.

Government made them do it, I guess. That's usually the go-to excuse.

Each coach is facing up to 80 years.

Lawd have mercy.

Numerous charges.

Bribery. Federal tax evasion. Wire fraud.

Doubt they get it, but that's what they're facing.

Per SAS. He's going in on his show right now.

College sports will forever be changed after this. They're going to bring down the whole tower.

Shit is about to get really, really, ugly.

I've been told the mood at UK is along the lines of, "We're not doing anything wrong, and they know that" ... They seem unconcerned.

i'm assuming the bulk of the sentencing is due to wire fraud and tax evasion. at first sight i was like how the fck are they gonna get 80 years for bribing high school students

This issue could all be solved very easily by letting the players get paid.

College athletics is slave labor, especially football and basketball.

They are making so much money off the backs of these athletes for FREE!

It wasn't just high school students.

Assistant coaches (publicly funded emoloyees) were taking bribes to funnel these kids to schools.

That is a crime.
