Yup. What happened to that O'Bannon lawsuit that was in the courts a few years back?

Honestly wish that the NBA players association would take a position on this....... the college kids have no leverage and no power to change the system which is rigged against them. However the NBA players do have the visibility and the platform to take a stand against this and they don't have anything to lose....... The NCAA is a totalitarian organization that exploits student-athletes and generates billions of dollars in doing so. There is a moral imperative for someone in a position of power in this country to speak out against it. If not professional basketball players then who?

That is a crime.

if we counted up all the bribes (taken and placed) the big wigs at all these schools and companies took to get to their positions they'd get a 100 lifetimes. Theyre paying investigators to find a couple scapegoats looks like to make it appear they solved the problem.

Yes.

They are just making an example of a few people. A comprehensive review of the system would reveal that it is from top to bottom entirely corrupt because like so much in this country it is built on exploitation, fraud and greed.

The concept of college sports is in principle a noble one but in reality it is a sham. When corporations makes billions of dollars from a spectacle and the laborers who produce the spectacle are denied any type of financial compensation its just not right.

It's not about basketball or the quality of play... it's about tribalism... plain and simple.

Those guys suck ass at basketball compared to NBA players thus it's an inferior product and if you don't agree you should probably start contemplating your lack of self awareness.
That's not to make mention of the fact that half of its viewership are disinterested randoms with no school ties or otherwise, pretending they understand the sport but really just trying to see if they got the best of their coworker in the office pool. I mean come on.

NCAA basketball is absolute garbage!

+The majority of people following the sport have never even attended college in the first place, it's laughable when I see redneck idiots and lowlife druggies around my way cheering for a big name school, gtfo!

Players should be funneled directly into the G-League from now on, there is no reason for them to take 100 level courses that they don't even show up to.

Not to mention the underlying racism that accompanies NCAA fandom, they love college ball but hate the NBA because the players are too "black", in skin color and attitude, and they are "paid too much".

I hope the entire organization goes down in flames

How many fans of NBA teams actually played for the NBA team?

No shit, people in Kentucky will pull for Kentucky, even if they didn't go to school at Kentucky. Just like people who live in Chicago will pull for the Bulls even if they never played for the Bulls. And people who DON'T live in Chicago will pull for the Bulls, which makes even less sense.

Great argument.

The argument was that half its viewership are people looking to see how accurately they pegged their million dollar bracket (the same thrill as playing the lottery) or trying to best their coworkers in their work pool. Not because they give a shit about basketball.

You don't see that type of nonsense in the NBA...it's for people who care about seeing the game played at its highest level.

March madness was still more exciting than anything that happened in the NBA last season. One game do or dies, more competitive games. I'll take a high school competitive game over an all star game scrimmage which is what GS has turned every game into.

This year however, the league will be better with more consolidated talent in a few select teams

I hear you about Cleveland and Golden State taking any suspense and surprise out of the whole thing. Still...Off the top of my head, Bucks raptors game 6 was fun as hell. Those young bucks are coming back, together with another year of experience. That's what March madness is missing for me. These teams won't stay together for more than that one year. There's nothing to look forward to. The moment is cool, don't get me wrong...it just doesn't resonate the same way as an up and coming NBA team making some noise.

I'm just reiterating the fact that, apparently, far more people must enjoy an inferior product.
