They should honestly implement a rule that if a player doesn't play and ruled out inactive for the game, they must sit out a minimum 3 to 4 games. That way if they don't want to play LeBron for that game, they will need him to dress and get a DNP - Coaches decision but still need to show up dressed.

What is the point of doing that?

Three bottom teams get the same chance 14% to get the #1 pick. Worst team is guaranteed a Top 5 pick.

Not sure this will make a huge difference (plenty of instances where the worst team in the league doesn't get the #1 anyway).

I'm glad this goes into effect in '19 so it doesn't screw with the Celtics' chances of getting the Lakers' pick next year.

The new LeBron rule was implemented for star players to play, not miss 3 or 4 games straight.

If LeBron or any star/superstar player dresses and doesn't play due to Coaches decision, then said coach or player will be grilled be the media.... "why didn't you play, is there a riff between you and the coach right now, coach will you play him next game, if he's not hurt why did you bench him?"

No real way to make a player play or fine him if he says he's allegedly having back spasms.......

Hell, Miami came right out and basically said Wade's healthy enough to play, but we're saving him for the playoffs..... aka "maintenance games" and nobody gave 2 ****s.

How does this prevent tanking? Make it the bottom 10 teams all have a 10% shot at landing the #1 pick.

This article details all the changes:

Quote:
The three teams with the worst records will share a 14 percent chance of getting the No. 1 overall pick, a change from the descending percentages of 25, 19.9, and 15.6 in the current system. Four teams -- increased from three -- will become part of the lottery draw, which means the No. 1 lottery seed could drop no further than fifth, No. 2 could drop no further than sixth, No. 3 no further than seventh, and No. 4 no further than eighth.

So teams will try to tank for #3 spot instead. Pretty much just like last year.
