Smart move by the coach to get Lavar to take him off the team by saying "He won't get to take that many shots like he did in years past" knowing how the egotist would respond to such a snub.

As a high school coach you don't want to have to deal with that circus show for the next two years. Lavar will undermine you and discredit you every step of the way. If you win he will give you zero credit and say it was because of his boy and how he raised him. However, if you lose he will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat like he did to Lonzo's UCLA teammates. He is a more visible person and has a much bigger media presence than the coach so there is no way to muzzle or neuter him.

I'm not sure it's in Lamelo's best interests to miss his last two years of high school and all of the experiences and fun that entails but I doubt he was given much of a choice. As ever with Lavar its not about the kids, its all about him, he is a thoroughly obnoxious man.
