Minnesota, which also has its exception available, has been trying to land James via sign-and-trade but the Wolves, according to NBA front-office sources, haven't been able to tempt the Raptors with a package featuring swingman Trenton Hassell.
in other words, mike james is going to dallas or hourton. or jupiter. anywhere but minnesota. offering tremton hassel probably made colangelo shrill in fear.
i bet they are. i witnessed trenton when he came into the leauge. really quiet. can he even speak? shouldn't of gone bald, looks like a sam cassel clone. trenton is totally overpaid and one dimensional. Mike James > Trenton, Ripley's believe it or not.
Great, great trade for both sides. Wow, this is unexpected.
There's just one problem... Randy Foye and Mike James, they're both undersized chucker 2 guards. Will that be bad? Or will that be good, considering how badly KG needs scorers who can create?
I really like this deal. Toronto was on the verge of getting nothing, or some Rockets scrub, and now they got the best defensive backcourt in the nation (of Canada... still not better than Pistons or Bulls. But not that far off). Is there any chance of them getting Magloire? Or are they out of assets.
He's a defensive shutdown player who can hit open shots. I don't see San An complaining about Bowen. And with such a great offensive frontcourt, TJ Ford running the show, and Mo Pete giving his 15ppg (albeing inconsistently... but with TJ giving him open looks that could change) who really needs offense?
If mike really wants to go there then its a good trade but they(toronto) cant force him to go anywhere. He likes houston but maybe he wants to keep on starting??

he is a shutdown defender but come on? he'll be the only one in the T-Dot.
With Hassels contract and lenght of the contract, there is only one thing Colangelo should tell McHale when he calls again and thats HELL NO. Are you kidding ad rather let James walk, atleast we will have Cap room.
Hassell does not suck. Minnesota just didn't have enough offense last season to provide Hassell with the type of role in which he is most effective. Getting James would be alright, but we can't trade away our best perimeter defender for him and then play James and Foye next to one another.
trenton hassell is the defintion of a team player. he does all the dirty work and guards the opponents best perimeter player, even if he is smaller, slower, etc. and does a heck of a job keeping players like kobe, melo somewhat in check as good as anyone else in the L could do.
he can also hit the baseline jumper 8 out of 10 times. he's an underrated player, he's athletic and has a somewhat developing post game.
