Republicans are great at winning elections despite championing unpopular policies. They suck at everything else. That goes double for Cheeto.

Like the election in Alabama. He supported the guy who lost and promptly threw him under the bus. Now Gillespie's under that bus too. If a Trump supporter wins it's because he supported Trump; if he loses it's because he didn't support Trump enough.

What a pathetic dick. Gillespie's pandering to Trumpism didn't work, and Trump is now blaming him?

One can hope.
Dems will make huge gains, it already started yesterday. Don't know about regaining those 1,000 political seats, especially with the GOP's gerrymandering...

This thing swings back and forth though, been following politics a long time and not too long ago, pundits were sounding the death knell of the GOP after GWB's tenure ended and the Dems controlled the White House, the House of Reps and the Senate just a little over 9 years ago. This is just swinging back to blue, not surprising at all...

You should ask yourself why Republicans are polling so poorly right now. They're the ones with all the power, yes? What's wrong? Oh right, they can't govern for shit and their pet policies are spectacularly unpopular. Totally forgot.

everybody lost big. Repubs didn't want Trump, either. It just depends... not sure where this goes. I would be surprised if Trump won in 2020 (unless he gets everything going well), but we'll see what happens in 18. Are all of the Trump states going to elect Trump-like candidates? Who knows.

I def support populism, and in this country, what populism is against is actually happening. If people would be real populists (and not use it as a tactic to get elected), I think it would be helpful. I dunno how much it has to shift before they can implement that kind of policy, tho.

I don't think Trump was one time thing, meaning people are still fed up, but I also think people might be look for a different answer, maybe an even more ridiculous one.

Also, socialism is not populism, to me. I want capitalism, just with more concerns for the common man. Pretty disappointed this middle class tax cut is going to save people like 1k haha. It's like, man, they could have at least given people 5k or so. But hopefully there will be more to come.

I don't think it's 'swinging' as much as it just continuing what was already going on. How many seats did the DNC 'gain' last night?

Two Democrat governors won races to replace two former Democrat governors. A Democrat mayor replaced a former Democrat mayor. You didn't 'win' (read gain) anything.
