Not just at the federal level, but all the way down to state and local politics. You see it everyday with the local country treasurer being arrested on corruption/thievery/bribery charges.

Politics was never intended to be about 'the money' when the founding fathers first created our political system, but that has changed. I think people living 200 years ago simply had a different mindset than people who live today.

Damn near as many as were available. For an off-year election, the Democrats couldn't have done much better.

But please, continue with your "this is fine" routine. It's highly amusing.

Well, the Republicans actually did win the biggest prize last night. They added another seat to their majority in congress.

just heard that reagan, clinton, bush and of course obama all lost a bunch of seats in midterms .. all served 2 terms so it's all good .. but obviously not good if they lose the majority

You mean the seat Republican Jason Chaffetz vacated in June?

Solid addition there, a real game-changer.

That's all well and good to say our founding fathers never intended politics to be about money but most of them were wealthy aristocrats. Estimates of the net worth for Washington, Madison, and Jefferson are in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Politics has been dominated by money in America since its founding. People 200 years ago who didn't have money like the founding fathers were worried about freezing and starving during the winter lol.

But back then, 'politics' wasn't a career.

Even the president had an actual job.

No politicians now have jobs other than being politicians.
