Default California NAACP seeks to remove 'Star-Spangled Banner' as national anthem

Quote:
California’s NAACP is pushing for state lawmakers to support a campaign to remove “The Star Spangled Banner” as the country’s national anthem.

The group says the song, which has been a point of controversy in the NFL, is “one of the most racist, pro-slavery, anti-black songs in the American lexicon,” The Sacramento Bee reported Tuesday.

The NAACP’s California chapter last week reportedly sent out two resolutions, which had been passed at the organizations state conference last month.

One of the resolutions was to support the removal of the anthem, while the other is an effort to get the NFL to fit former player Colin Kaepernick onto a team.

Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem, which is typically played before games.

“We owe a lot of it to Kaepernick,” California NAACP President Alice Huffman told The Sacramento Bee. “I think all this controversy about the knee will go away once the song is removed.”

Huffman said she wrote the resolutions after President Trump said NFL owners should fire players who protest during the anthem.

“Trump got in the middle of it. He blew it out of proportion,” Huffman said of the president, who labeled players who kneel as a "son of a b---h" during an Alabama rally.

The U.S. Congress should adopt a new national anthem that’s not “another song that disenfranchises part of the American population,” Huffman said.

“The Star-Spangled Banner” has been the nation’s anthem since 1931, when President Herbert Hoover signed a congressional act making it the song of the United States.

The NAACP provided a list of possible replacements:

Don't Get It Twisted - 2Pac
Izzo - Jay-Z
Shook Ones - Mobb Deep

NAACP needs a name change to keep up with the times. Not sure too many people are using the term "Colored People" anymore.

But back to California. Is there a more backwards state in the Union than the state of California?? Sanctuary cities, intentional HIV spreading no longer a crime, Hollywood chiming in on every political and social issue, the Kardashians, etc. Can we dissolve that state?

Does anyone care about California NAACP?

Might as well make a thread "Random old man on street corner warn that the end is near". That's how insignificant they are.

Everyone should stand. Blacks aren't excluded. No special treatment, especially for rich, spoiled athletes that too many fanboys like you worship on a daily basis.

What was it Charles Barkley preached back in the day, before you were even a tiny little worm in your daddy's ball sack? Oh yeah, "I'm not a role model."

The hell do you know about America? Not much judging by the way you type. Another immigrant with a thick accent that thinks he knows it all. However, I'm not holding that against you.

Tell me how minorities don't have equal freedoms and successes as others do? Considering we both follow a sport where they pay their athletes upwards to 40-50 million a year. Why are Blacks the only ones crying and you never hear a peep from Asians, Latinos, etc??

What's that have to do with them being backwards?

Nothing? Yeah.

do what youre told is now the american way! and freedom of speech and freedom to protest is no longer valid rights. for minorities that is, according to trumpies. but not racist!

Nobody said they can't protest.

But their employer said they can't protest on the clock. Not sure if you are intentionally trying to intertwine the two ideas to make a point or...

They can hang up their pads and kneel every day of the week in front of the WH if they want. If they really cared, they would. But then they wouldn't get paid their millions, and you know, they've got cars and baby mamas to pay for, so yes its important, but not THAT important.

Or you can just keep calling everyone racists.

The NFL is a business. If the owners want them to stand, they'll stand. You can protest all you want, but not while you're on the clock. Cause while you're on the clock, YOUR ASS BELONGS TO ME.

Understand now? Do you have a job? Try telling your boss that you're going to protest the injustices in this country by taking an extended lunch break every day. See how long you continue to work there. The NFL is a business like I said. Not a place where the players dictate what they can and cannot do.

Progressiveness isnt backwards. Thatd be you guys. You just ignore all the good they do and all that they provide economically for this country for little side issues that will never affect you. They do capture your attention and fascinate you guys though.
