Mark Jacksons point of the Cavs fighting for a west playoff spot is not hard to belive, theyd be a 6 or 7 seed if they had to play the West consistently...

They did good against the West but if they were in the West and had to battle the likes of Suns, Mavs, and Spurs on a consistent basis than you would see the difference.
The thing is, no one will know for sure because the Cavs don't play in the West, so why would Jackson make the statement? It was a rough game for the Cavs last night and he felt like kicking a little dirt on them, I guess.

The fact is, the Cavs are in the Finals. I doubt that, had Detroit made the Finals and lost Game 1 to the Spurs by 9 points, Jackson would be on the radio saying that they would struggle to beat the Lakers in a series.

this is the PRECISE REASON why jackson even bothered making this prediction. because we will never know, sports analysts will make guesses. Jackson may be dead wrong. maybe he hit the mark. who knows? it's their job to make guesses based on what they see.

Cavs would have trouble making the playoffs in the West....

and the Suns would have put the Cavs out in the first round.

That doesn't take anything away from the Cavs though... they won the East and that's all they were supposed to do.

That team would have serious scoring issues. Probably wouldn't even make the playoffs in the West.

I'm not sure what Jackson saw when the Cavs actually played the Lakers, but I saw one team vastly superior to the other. I mean... I know that people will say regular season doesn't matter, but when a team is clearly better than the other...

What, exactly, did Jackson see in those games that would give the Lakers hope against the Cavs in a series?

I doubt he even thought about that, though. He was too busy piling on the Cavs.

Maybe the Lakers should just trade conferences instead of players.

Kwame cant catch or shoot
Odom is not a good shooter
Walton is not a good shooter
Parker is not a shooter..

Put Bron out there with them and he will have no driving lanes and they look really bad.

Unlike guys like Jones, Marshall, Pavolic, Gooden, Big Z, Gibson, the starters on the lakers cant shoot. They also dont rebound and they dont defend.

Yeah Cavs vs Lakers series will be close. Kobe is Kobe and lebron has better support slightly. But Cavs vs other western teams(Dallas, Suns, Utah), Cavs will have a hard time

The Cavs are better than the lakers, but I do agree that they would lose first round in the west. Nothing is for sure though cuz they aren't in the west so it is very hard to predict accurately what will happen if they were in the west.

Cavs are an 8th seed (7th at best) in the Western Conference and will make a quick 1st round exit out of the playoffs.

The days of facing Washington and New Jersey in the playoffs would be over for them in the West....but they play in the East, so it's a moot point.
