Game 1

87 Lakers at 86 Celtics

End of 1st: Celtics 35, Lakers 32

Halftime: Lakers 66, Celtics 62

End of 3rd: Lakers 96, Celtics 91

Final Score: at Celtics 127, Lakers 122

Player of the Game: L.Bird 32pts 13reb 3ast 1stl

The Boston Celtics win Game 1 of the 80s Tournament Finals. Larry Bird was terrific. But the play of the Game came from Dennis Johnson. The Celtics were up by 3, and the Lakers had one more chance to tie it, and Dennis Johnson steals the ball away from Magic to finish the game off. Magic though had a solid night at 28pts and 9ast with 6reb. But the Celtics just had too many big performers. Dennis Johnson also added 20pts and 9ast. Parrish had 23pts and 13reb. McHale also had 23pts 5reb 2blk. Besides for Magic, Worthy added 22pts and Kareem had 19pts and 9reb. Overall as a team the Celtics shot 57% from the field and the Lakers only 49%. But TOs prevented the Celtics from totally dominating.

K.McHale

The 86 Boston Celtics take a 2-0 lead over the Showtime Lakers. Larry Bird has been at his best this series with another remarkable game. He has dominated both Game 1 and Game 2 now. The Celtics stayed in control of the game mostly and finished it off as well. Magic had 22pts 9ast and 5reb on 9/20 shooting. Dennis Johnson did a solid job on him. Cooper did an ok job on Bird, but he only plays half the game. McHale was huge with 23pts and 14reb and 4blk. Byron scott had 22pts tonight. The Celtics once again shot at a higher % and went to the line 43 times, making 37 of their FTs. Game 3 will be in LA.

The Showtime Lakers get on the board with a big win. The Lakers came in with very high offense and finished off like that as well. M.Johnson had near triple double game. Kareem was huge tonight with 28pts and Scott also added 23pts. McHale led the Celtics with 29pts/8reb and Bird also had another good game with 27pts 6reb. The Lakers shot 59% from the field, the Celtics only 46%. The Lakers also committed fewer TOs. Game 4 will be back here in Los Angelos.

End of 3rd: Lakers 95, Celtics 84

Final Score: at Lakers 118, Celtics 114

Player of the Game: M.Johnson 35pts 15ast 9reb

It was a classic duel between Bird vs. Magic. Magic's Lakers though came up on top. Magic was amazing with 35/15/9. Bird also was great with 37pts/11reb/6ast. The Celtics shot a higher %, but the key for the Lakers was good ball control. James Worthy helped Magic with 23pts of his own. Parrish was the 2nd best in Boston with 19/12. McHale was in foul trouble tonight. The Celtics hope to not let Magic dominate like he did in Game 4 tonight. Bird continues to have an excellent series.

The Boston Celtics won a huge Game 5 to take back control of the series. McHale after not being there in Game 4 was a monster in Game 5, dominating the Lakers. Bird poured in 27pts/8reb/9ast from his side. Byron Scott had a huge 37pt performance but his 3 rimmed of as the game ended. Magic was sensational with 22pts/13ats/8reb, but Dennis Johnson held him to 9/23 shooting. Parrish also dominated for the Celtics with 23pts/16reb. Overall, the Celtics frontcourt was just too good tonight. Game 6 will be in Boston.

End of 3rd: Celtics 89, Lakers 77

Final Score: at Celtics 120, Lakers 104

Player of the Game: L.Bird 30pts 19reb 5ast

The Boston Celtics have officially won the 80s Tournament. Larry Bird was once again dominating as he has been all series, and he finished the job off with a amazing game. Magic had a horrible shooting night going 12/34, good defense by Dennis Johnson once again. Though Magic did have a triple double. Cooper has only been playing 24min a game, so he can only slow down Bird half the game. But Bird has won the duel with Magic in the Finals. Parrish added 24/11 tonight as the Celtics played great defense holding the Lakers to 39% shooting. While the Celtics shot 52% from the field. The 86 Celtics are the 80s Tournament Champions.
