Everybody loses.
But the USa, having a gigantic military, and an economy not dependent on exports, will lose the least.

China gets hurt the worst.
My manufacturers over there are hurting and i can tell
germany second worst, since both are export-dependent economies.

People here are either completely ignorant about this or just too partisan to care.

The American economy is dependent on consuming, so American consumers get hurt just as bad. There is no winning here.

Really? The country that exports to another country on a 3 to 1 dollar ratio (probably far greater) versus what it imports, and already has pre-existing tariffs on nearly half of the opposing side's imports is in a position to win a trade war? This is not about punishing China, it's about making things fair. The US has been China's doormat for far too long.

China has already said it planned to CUT tariffs in July, despite portraying bravado to their people in the state run media. They don't want any part of this battle. That's the one huge advantage China has over the US. Trump has to deal with the hostile media, vocal companies who will be hurt by a trade war and half of this partisan nation. In China, they control the media. There can be factories closing, massive job layoffs, less revenue for local governments, but all the Chinese people wI'll hear is everything is fine and dandy, and the US is suffering.

China is already running propaganda 24/7 on the airwaves that this is not about trade. It's about Trump trying to bring down the Communist Party and China itself.

Funny thing is, Bernie Sanders would be doing the same thing as Trump is now. Actually he promised to do much worse to those with unfair trade practices. If it was good ole' Bernie doing this, the left would be rallying behind him with American flags cheering him on.

The thing is this isn't the first time tariffs were used against China and history shows that this wont be a roflstomp by the US. Again, no one wins in this.

Also, please define "fair", "doormat", and "level playing field" you guys like to keep spouting about. Fair is a relative term and may not actually mean the same between two parties. Besides, no one is forcing you to buy cheap Chinese products at the store, are they?

Trump to offer U.S. farmers billions to ease trade pain

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration was set to announce billions of dollars in aid for U.S. farmers on Tuesday to help protect them from the repercussions of trade spats between the United States and China, the European Union and others, a source familiar with the plan told Reuters.

The Washington Post earlier reported that the White House was readying $12 billion in assistance, citing two people familiar with the plan.

Politico, citing two sources familiar with the plan, also reported the administration will pay for billions in trade-related aid through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s broad authority and two commodity support programs in a farm bill under consideration in Congress.

What?! Wanting to have reasonable relations with an important world power with many common interests: how awful!! Reigning back the economic terrorism and bullying and attempts to impoverish civilians populations?! Oh noez! Traitor!!!

You do know that most European countries are talking about lifting sanctions as well right? That America's hostile position to Russia is pissing off countries like Germany and Italy (and smaller countries around them)? Are they all kremlin agents on Putin's payroll? I think you'll find they have a tiny amount of money to throw at such manipulations, unlike America.

The US should be careful because its economic power, though still supreme, is vulnerable and tottering, and the world is going to seize an opportunity to break from the US system when it comes (and this is the only thing that allows you to maintain such gargantuan levels of debt). Alternatives to things like SWIFT and other American-dominated technologies are coming, and with the Iran idiocy, many countries are looking for an opportunity to escape from a system that allows the US to trample on their sovereignty through economic terrorism.
