Always wanted to know about this. I never really saw a backboard breaking dunk live, so what usually happens if it breaks? I'm guessing that obviously the game can't go on... so whoever's up at the time gets the win? And if so couldn't you just get your big guy to go up and break it once you get a lead? I know that can't be.. which is why I'm asking.. Maybe they can replace the backboard?

lol @ the leaders just winning a game right then and there. haha.
Every single NBA arena has one extra goal. They wheel it out, the whole backboard and rim and all that, and just put it up. It takes about 35 to 45 minutes to get the broken one out and new one in. I remember when Shaq broke the hydraulics on one and the thing shrunk down compacted like a Transformer. Kinda cool, didn't even break the rim or glass, just f*cked up what holds it there...game was delayed until the new one was set up.
