The NBA should switch to what the NHL does which is a culminative playoffs MVP rather than just a finals MVP.

People continue to use stats to justify TP's finals mvp.

It's all good but lets review the FACTS.

-SAS do NOT hold the Cavs to 80PPG without Duncan.

-Spurs get WORKED on the boards without Duncan

-Spurs drivers/shooters have smaller holes/less time and space to get off a shot

-Spurs do not win the series without Duncan, could win without Parker

This series was won with defense/rebounding and Duncan' ability to have an offense ran through him; not Parkers scoring.

Magic dominated with his passing
Michael dominated with his skills
Shaq dominated with his size and strength
D-Wade dominated with his free throws
And TP was able to dominate with his speed. Thats why he, rightfully, won finals MVP this year. He couldn't be slowed down. Timmy is still the heart and soul of that spurs team though.

If speed wins you anything meaningful (and it's become more and more apparent that awards mean squat) than Barbosa should be MVP, 6th man of the year, coach of the year, whatever.

Speed didn't win him tha trophy. The inability of the media to understand basketball is what won Parker, Duncan' trophy.

Tony Parker is the man. Third championship by age 25, Finals MVP, unprotected sex with Eva Longoria. That is the definition of THE MAN. I'd do anything just to get one of those things, let alone all three.

I think pretty much everyone know those things including the TP supporters such as myself.

Yes, Duncan is the alpha and the omega of the Spurs, everyone in the whole wide world know that but Parker deserved his MVP by the criteria for the finals MVP. He was their leading scorer, he shot a great % and his play deserved him an award.

Speaking of Duncan's value to the Spurs compared to Parker's...I don't think anyone will debate you there.

Of course Duncan is miles ahead of Parker and without Duncan the Spurs are perhaps a lottery team but Parker played better in the finals than Duncan and rightfully won the trophy. Of course it's Duncan's presence that enabled all those things but Parker played amazing. All bball fans however know that Duncan is more valuable, no argument there.

Like I said before, if you say Parker didn't deserve it, then Wade didn't deserve it.

Yeah Duncan opened things up for the ENTIRE team, but I think Parker can put up big scoring numbers and 6 assists on a bad team. He couldn't lead them to win big, but he could get those numbers.

But just like Shaq opened things up for the team and helped Wade avg over 30 in the series. The Mavs (foolishly) tripled Shaq throughout the series pretty much (I guess on reputation) and tried to see if Wade could be them one on one (with some help) and he along with the refs did.

Parker provided daggers throughout the postseason, and carried the offense when it was slowed or when teams were paying toooo much attention to Duncan. He deserved the MVP. There have been times when the best player hasn't won finals MVP. Hell Bird didn't win it each time

.

Uh seriously dude. Do you know what the "V" in MVP stands for?

Parker was not the MVP. Wade was, its a totally different situation. Sure Shaq does similar things to what Duncan does, but Shaq wasn't the star of their defense or their offense last year. Duncan was the star of both. Duncan was the dominant player on the court in all 4 games.

I'm with Kwaj here. College basketball is becoming much easier to get now so I guess I'm just going to watch that. NBA is dead in the water.

The reason Parker won the MVP is because he is more marketable than TD. Same reason Nash won his MVP's. As long as the awards are judged by the media you are going to get results that are just wrong. NBA really needs to sort out what a joke the awards have become. It is making a mockery of the league and the sport.

"Added a 3 point line"?

Youve been disgruntled and jaded since 1979, and 28 years later this is the last straw?

Yes. Mostly because I have this OCD thing where I click my mouse and select text as I read it. So I rarely miss hidden text.
