NBA has maybe 3 teams that could win a title.
The regular season is useless.
NFL Uber Alles.

Every night we get to watch guys like Kyrie, Curry, Lebron, Durant etc putting on a show. You don't have to wait a week for a game that might be a dud. Speaking of dud, how about how ***** the NFL is now. There's so much of an emphasis now against rushing the passer and defensive back interaction with receivers that it's become a cheap, diluted product. Plus, concussions, bro. I don't gotta watch some shit feeling guilty knowing some of these guys will have speech impediments as early as 30 when I can just watch a more skilled based game.

Pretty much this. There are tons of things I would rather do on a Sunday than sit on my couch watching dudes in tights give each other brain damage. College is 100 x worse - kids basically eating ramen noodles for 4 years and developing CTE while the coaches and the programs make a killing off of them. It's completely immoral.

Seriously don't know how people can watch that shit with a clean conscience.

NFL to me is in dire need of the next great team or player more than anything.

Basketball after Lebron is still going to be good and it's fast paced. You still have 3 more years of peak KD, Curry, Harden and then 5-6 peak years of AD, Kawhi, etc...

Football has no heir apparent. Aaron Rodgers is 34. He's not going to play til 40. Cam Newton can't get it together to be consistently dominant. The Raiders are going either be the Eagles AFC version or the biggest blunder.

This is why I can't stand American football:

Out of the 3 plus hours it takes to play an average NFL game, more than 2 hours of it will be spent watching commercials or players standing around. 11 minutes of actual game action.

Granted, the nature of the sport is a major factor because of all the stoppage in play. But the commercial time is absolutely unnecessary. How is it that soccer can manage two 45+ minute segments of uninterrupted action and still have lucrative deals? You really don't need commercials after every kickoff and punt. You don't even need commercials when teams switch from offense to defense--it's not like the defense guys who've been doing nothing while the offensive teams are out need a rest before they go out on the field. Plaster NFL jerseys in sponsorship if you have to but man football can be so damn boring.

Soccer has a lot of downtime too, teams aren't always on the offensive attack, some even play defensively the entire match and try to win via PK.

I wouldn't even consider non-offensive-attack time as 'downtime' as the ball is still moving around and teams begin to build up their offenses in the back field while minding counterattacks. Downtime in sports means stoppage/commerical time. You could kinda say baseball has a lot of downtime in between pitches but then again no one here is defending baseball

Neymar goes down and it's a five minute stoppage.

Yup, its like that joke about going to a fight and a hockey game breaking out, the way the sport is packaged/televised revolves entirely around breaks in play for commercials.

I don't know how fans of this sport are cool with the "flow of the game" being broken up constantly in this way. It destroys any continuity/momentum.

Roger Goddell has been the downfall of the NFL. The next commissioner has a tall task.

Football isn't going anywhere. People will still want to be running backs knowing their shelf life is 4 years. The sport isn't dying. It's peaked, but not dying. It's going to take freedom for players to express to become fun again.

Yes it is. Youth football enrollment is declining year after year. Parents know that there are plenty of other sports their kid can play that are as much, if not more fun than football where the risk of injury is much lower.

Football will probably always have a constituency in poorer communities but people of more affluent means are turning their back on the sport in droves.

All sports are declining due to eSports
