While former Sixer Aaron McKie is undecided on whether to continue his NBA career, he announced yesterday plans to host the second annual AM8 Golf Challenge on July 30 at Commonwealth National Golf Club in Horsham.
Proceeds benefit McKie's AM8 Foundation, a non-profit organization that strives to enrich the lives of Philadelphia-area families. Information on the golf tournament is on the foundation's Web site: www.am8foundation.org.
The Simon Gratz and Temple product played just 24 games during the last two injury-plagued years with the Los Angeles Lakers and is now a free agent. "I will keep in shape and keep my options open," said McKie, who is 34 and has played 13 seasons.
"If I am not playing, then hopefully I will be coaching or be part of management," he said. "I feel there is a lot I gave to the game and could teach young people."
Oh McKie - we barely knew you
