Default Re: Where would LeBron rank if he lost in the ECF in 07,11,14,15,17,18?

It isn't better to lose in the first round than the Finals, but it IS better to lose with a bad team/low seed than a good team/high seed

MJ only lost with a high seed 1 time in 1990 - his 2-seed lost to the dynasty pistons because young pippen had a legendary choke

Otoh, Lebron lost with high seeds in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2017

So lebron lost with a lot of good teams with decent odds or even the favorite, whereas MJ only lost once with a good team, and never the favorite

Lebron is a loser compared to MJ.. 3 rings in 15 years, versus MJ's 6 in 15... So to argue lebron over MJ, you must argue that winning doesn't matter.. .. I'll take the guy that doesn't have to make that argument....

(who also has the best stats - only MJ is top 2 in VORP, BPM, PER, WS/48, and he set record for plus-minus in 96'.. and he owns boxscore stats with 4 PPG advantage over everyone in history)
.

Where would he rank?

Much lower because he would lose many series he was expected to have won. There's just no way he would lose some of these years cause he was on the best team in the East easy. Would be a big shock and big legacy hit.

07 - historic series with that game 5 against Pistons. Takes a hit to his legacy, because that series because many expected him to lose and he won with an epic performance in game 5. If he loses the series he loses a nice achievement

11 - huge hit if he couldn't even make the finals with his newly formed super
14 - big hit back to back champs with easily best team in the East
15 - big hit, left Miami went back to CLE and forced them to fire coach and get rid of #1 pick for Love. Best team in East easy
17 - another big hit because easily best team in the weak East

If you have a good team, specifically tailored to your play style and an all time great you are expected the win against inferior competition, so if he lost in the East any of these year except 2007 it would be a joke.

He'd be definitely below Magic, Bird, Kobe instead arguable with them and not even close to realm of MJ.
