Good plan and innovation, but I just hope solutions like these do not make us getting lazy, thinking we can use plastics now at will because we have these solutions now. No no, the damage to wildlife, fishes, and reefs has already been done. This solution is for cleaning up the mess we already made, not for prevention of future damage.

I believe we need to focus more resources on making biodegradable plastics more affordable and minimizing the use of plastic as much as possible. I bought a box of reusable straws to limit how much straws I use. Plastic bags are also going away in my state next year I believe - I think you will have to pay extra for them, which will automatically cut down on plastic bag usage.

Water bottles are the next thing to focus on. I refuse to use a water bottle because I realize the water is the same in them as tap water. A lot of other people don't realize that, and it irritates me when I hear folks asking for bottled water.. Their thought process is that bottled water must be cleaner than tap water, but it's not true. At least not in the developed countries. People are ignorant to the fact that bottled water is usually the same as tap water except in a bottle. There is no true difference which one you drink..

Tell that to the residents of Flint.

Youíre full of shit btw. Thereís a noticeable taste difference that isnít placebo because bottled water typically tastes way better. It depends on where you live because all water sources are not the same but when they **** up your local water supply you typically arenít notified until weeks or months later if youíre notified at all.

Bottled water is almost always just taken from a local water supply therefore itís the same water but the treatment is different.

The issue with Flint water happened due to human-caused pollution in local river not being treated properly. That caused lead to end up in their water supply. Most districts across the developed countries do not typically have this issue. But you can always add a consumer water filter to tap if you are worried of it not being clean - they don't cost much.. That's a better solution than jumping straight to bottled water.

Also, you do realize that everyone bathes in tap water? Those heavy metals can still enter your body by simply bathing in that water.. If the people of Flint drank only bottled water, they would still get sick bathing in it..

As for bottled water taste.. you are right they are treated differently from district to district, but typically it's filled out of tap water of wherever the source is. It's not like it's special water they made in a lab or something

That's not correct the skin is not permeable to heavy metals or water for that matter not that that makes these conditions acceptable.

Ingestion is the route of toxicity, which is why this water is not safe to drink, but acceptable for bathing. Not that I'd really want anyone taking a bath in that garbage, but semantics I suppose.
