Early in his career and in his prime, Finley was one of the best slashers in the league. He only reverted to his jump-shooting-first form during like the resurrection of the Mavericks in the 2000s.

Michael Finley was and still is a talented player. Solid defender, decent passer, and could score. He espcially likes to drive to the basket at times. Good to see him with a championship ring.

i missed that dallas trio. finley was my favorite among the three but now he's on a team i don't like. 2 of them had MVP awards... but the bigger prize is with finely. happy he finally won a ring!

OT: number 1 over-all pick = european
MVP = european
finals MVP = european

How did he get on the Spurs team anyway? He seemed to be a great player on the Mavericks.

Finley was a good player, though he didn't get much recognition until 2001 when the Mavs became a playoff team. When they became really good in 2002, Dallas was considered the team of the future with an emerging Steve Nash, a 23 year old Dirk Nowitzki, and Finley was the third part of the trio. The only problem was the Mavs were like the present day Suns. They played no defense whatsoever, which resulted in them getting clobbered by teams such as the Lakers, Spurs, and Kings.

Great response. But seriously how did he end up on the Spurs? Last time I checked he had a huge contract.
