1. This is stupid
2. Marion's value is way ahead of Walton's value.

I don't see how the numbers work...

Luke signs for numbers more on par with an MLE, where Marion is over $13M a season. Who else do we give up? Kwame?

Can you not read? Its on the rumours page.

Chris Sheridan: The best rumor I heard out here was that the Lakers had turned their attention to acuirin Shawn Marion in a sign-and-trade involving Luke Walton, another player and the Lakers' pick, which I'm told the Suns would use on Spain's Rudy Fernandez.

1) If this trade could actually be worked out, it would be really good for both teams. Lakers acquire a slasher/cutter, perfect for the triangle offense, and great defender. Phoenix gets a very intellegent and versatile team player, just like Steve Nash and Boris Diaw. Also, they get another first round pick, and unnamed player.

2) I don't think this trade has any chance, because these two teams have meet in the first round of the playoffs for the past two years. This year wasn't as scary for the Suns as the series two years ago. But the Suns organization, coaches, and players all know that at any time Kobe Bryant can go off and almost single-handedly win a basketball game. They don't want to fuel the fire of an opponent any more than the Lakers do.
Also, the Lakers have a very hard system. One of the few players that actually understand the system and their role on the team is Luke Walton. Very hard to lose a player like him.

Actually, the Lakers are kind of screwed again until a decision is made on Kobe. Adding personnel to a team not knowing what players you will have is a huge mistake. They will have to wait until they see how those chips fall before getting other players.

If anything I think Luke can thrive in a system like the one TheSuns run. So I dont think it would be such a bad deal for the suns.. they get rid of a big contract and get a smart hard working player.

But is this trade actually possible?

Plus, its true they can receive more for marion....

I rarely read the rumor section.

I don't think this trade will happen at all.

Like I said before, this is stupid.
