real reason i like him is that he is a brash presonality who actually has a stable of information and knowledge to back it up. its ur right to disagree with his opinions, but at least they are conceived from fact and not agenda. he's just a petty real dude.
I hate sports analysts who trash athletes as if they could do any better at the sport they are talking about.
there is not a worse criteria for evaluating analyists. if they could do any better at the actual sport, they would be out there playing and making millions. the fact is, only a select few are blessed with the talent to play in a league like the NBA. for the millions of others who enjoy playing and following sports, there is absolutely no shame in gathering knowledge and forming opinions based on that knowledge, whether you can run a sub-4.3 40 or not.

there's a difference between gathering knowledge and giving an opinion, and trashing someone.
Here's an example.. He said something like this of KG:
KG is a perrenial loser who can never and will never take a team to the promised land. The only time that loser ever made it out of the first round was when he had a true winner, Cassell, leading the team and since he doesn't have that player anymore he will retire possibly without making the playoffs again in his whole career.
Now do you think something like that was really necessary?
He is a pompous fool. Id be better off if Id never heard his show. Of course, DP isn't any better. National sports radio is in a terrible state right now. Id rather listen to my local crackerasses talk about nascar and local highschool softball than either of these fools.
Rome does have some good interviews, ill give you that.
i dunno man. when you break the bank to sign the largest contract (at the time) in NBA nistory and almost single-handedly cause a lockout the following season in order to prevent more contracts like yours, its not that unfathomable that people are gonna call you selfish.
However, smith is too loquacious to be part of a studio show, he only excels where he has a platform all to himself. he is very well-spoken, which makes the fact that he is loud more tolerable. he is an educated man who wants to flaunt his opinions, like a hot chick wants to flaunt her Ds. i think he is good for the black community because he doesnt sound like he was dipped in a rap video.

Rome can be funny as hell sometimes. I like his show but in small doses. It's always annoyed me though that he does the SAME EXACT interviews on his radio show and his tv show. Seriously, he'll have an athlete on his radio show then his tv show and ask the same questions in the same order with the same follow ups. Whats that about?
And by the way, Scott Ferrall owns every sports talk host out there.
