Nelson Set To Continue Coaching
Quote:
I was not at Warriors headquarters Tuesday evening. Nope, I was just talking on the phone to Mullin, who was there. But when Mullin spoke about Nelson's energy and attitude in the days since the 67-year-old coach returned from Maui, I could see it and hear it in my mind.
And one thing was obvious:
Five weeks after suggesting he might retire on the heels of the Warriors' playoff run, Nelson has apparently come back refreshed and has unofficially (but happily) jumped back onboard for the 2007-2008 Warriors season.
"Nellie's doing pretty good," Mullin said. "Matter of a fact, we were on treadmill today walking and watching film. He got a little rest, got some treatment for his hip ... kind of just recouping, man. Put a lot into the season. He really did.
"With anybody, first and foremost, it's his health, make sure he's feeling good. And I think right now he is. That's the No.1 thing."
Has Nelson told you he's definitely coming back for another season?
"He never told me he wasn't," Mullin said with a laugh.
Mullin didn't seem too bothered by either the line of questioning or the whole issue of Nelson's potential
