They will more than likely go on another run, but their problem is, their so far back in the AL East race, and there are 5 teams ahead of them in the wild card, so it might not matter. Yeah, 6.5 games at this time of year isn't much to overcome, but unlike years past, I don't think that there is anyone that they can trade for, unless they are stupid enough to give up Philip Hughes.

Also, a team with their payroll and their resources should NEVER miss the playoffs. Heads will roll if they do miss out. Torre and Cashman will both be gone.

Abreu needs to be gone too. slacker not doing much at the #3 spot.

and the team needs to work together for chemistry. different problem each loss. one day the pitching is good but the bats fail. one day the bats get hot, but the pitching fails. one day no one shows up. one day they play a hard earned game to get a 3 run lead then the bull pen gives it right back and more. etc.

they may be back, but there is still time to make a run. if they fall 10 games back of the wild card at the end of July, then it is truly over

They need some fiery individuals on this team. As great as a player that Jeter is, he's too stoic to be the real leader. They need some Paul O'Neil type players, guys that start throwing bats around and delivering team speeches when they are needed. I get the sense that most of the guys on this team might be somewhat upset by losing, but their bank account quickly ease any pain they feel. I have never seen a more emotionless team, and it starts with their manager, who looks like he's half asleep in the dugout.
