Then Brown will want to prove he is worth this contract extension. As I said before, Hayward could be back to his 2017 level, but it won't matter because he's too unselfish. He'll just take a backseat to Tatum and Brown whether he is better than them or not as he just isn't the type of guy to force the issue. He's always looking for the best play for the team and not himself. This won't be true for either Tatum or Brown.
Nah Celtics are going to be very good. They are already a lot more cohesive without Kyrie

I don’t think anyone would take issue so long as he signed for big money before the season. He wasn’t just betting on himself and not taking the sure money which was the concern everyone had. I’m glad he got paid. I hate seeing those young guys risk it and lose.

And you're cool with paying a guy that was coming off the bench $115 million? Eek la veek.
I'm sorry, but under no circumstances is Jaylen Brown worth that kind of money.

90m guaranteed, potentially 106m if he meets incentives.

You don't know this. Many NBA players are super materialistic and blow all their money on useless shit that won't mean anything and they go bankrupt. Not saying he will, but it happens pretty regularly.

He hired an agent for these negotiations. Previously he had nothing to negotiate (rookie scale is set), so there’s no reason to think he’s some mastermind, although I’m sure that’s what he wants you to think.
This contract is unbelievable. I can’t believe he got more than $20 mil per year. I guess I was way off in my estimation of GMs. I always figured the rule was if you are lucky enough to get offered an early extension, you get offered what you are worth based on current production and nothing based off potential. Then you can decide to take the security or bet on yourself. Geez.

Their opinions don't bug me but we had people in that thread calling him stupid for turning down 80 mil that will now complain about how overpaid he is in this thread.
Re: Celtics Extend Jaylen Brown 4 years-$115 million.
Why don’t they wait till next year to sign him? With China banning NBA, the salary cap is expected to reduce by 10-20%, no team will be offering Jaylen Brown that much.

Why should I care? It's not my money. Unless this is going to keep them from signing Giannis or somebody I am happy to see a talented young player stay in Boston. Felt the same way about Smart last year, who I thought was overpaid.
Re: Celtics Extend Jaylen Brown 4 years-$115 million.
The thing is if Brown was, say, the ninth pick, he wouldn’t have gotten this much money. It’s wild to me how draft position still holds sway past rookie year reference.
Re: Celtics Extend Jaylen Brown 4 years-$115 million.
Everyone thought Ainge was some mastermind.
Dude just took advantage of an impatient previous owner of the Nets and did IT dirty.
People thought he was playing chess when he didn't all-in and trade for DMC, PG13, Butler, or Kawhi.. Woj and company swore up and down that Boston were going to get AD and pair him with Kyrie..
Now look at him. No Kyrie. Just got a budget, less efficient version in Walker. No AD. Just got Enes Kanter... Celtics now are relying on Tatum and Brown making a leap when they did nothing but underperform.. Now one of them is being rewarded for it.
Celtics missed their championship window and the fans can all thank good ol' penny pinching Ainge for it.
