I prefer Jeff. He doesn't get the "scoops" that we receive from ESPN Insiders (99.9% of which are bull****) but when he says something it's generally true.

There's no way to predict that with any knd of accuracy. Clearly depends on which team he goes to, who they have to offer, and if they even have to trade with Seattle to get him.

better question would be who should they realistically go after?

Rashard Lewis for Tayshaun Prince and some draft pick.

or

Rashard Lewis for Ben Wallace

Sonics needs a defensive bigmen in their current lineup.

I'd offer him to Chicago for Ben Wallace, like LeBron23 said. With Wallace, Seattle may defend well enough to make the playoffs while Chi could use a major scoring threat...which Rashard Lewis isn't, IMO (he stinks in the postseason, soft as putty) but but mine is not the majority opinion.

Detroit shouldn't touch that.

no offense to Jeff Green, i think he'll be a great player, but this is why the Sonics should have drafted Corey Brewer with the Celts pick. He can play the 2 and guard PGs and SGs much better than Green will be able to, and he would have been a much more natural fit alongside Durant and (if they did decide to keep him) Lewis.

No way this trade happens. Seattle already has some young centers in place, and Chicago doesn't need a player with Lewis' skillsek. They are already packed with players at the 3-4 spot.

Sonics are in a rebuilding mode with durant as the focus, to trade away a youthful allstar for a overpaid near the end of his career center would make no sense regardless of how many you have in the same position.
Rashard and Prince play the same position It wouldnt help and Prince knows how to use his talents better than rashard though i think rashard has more potential and is a better shooter.

The Sonics have Durant, Green, and Delonte West( who i think has AMAZING potential to be a really good solid scorer and gaurd) for the future SF, SG depth. Not to mention they have chris wilcox as the center who is 25 yrs old and can def score. That gives them a C, SF, SG. They have Earl Watson at PG who is 28 but is replaceable to upgrade. And Nick Collison as a Young and Excellent PF. I think maybe trade for a better PG, or just sign brevin knight for PG and then get some expirers and picks for rashard and wait for next summer or 09 summer to use their big bucks.

Jerome James is basically getting paid b/c of a few good random playoff games he had against the Spurs some years back.

Thing is, Wallace has 3 years left on his deal, and he's probably not going to be good much longer. He'll be 33 in September and his game won't work when he loses his athleticism. He's going to devolve into Antonio Davis sooner or later. Lewis isn't the best fit but he's a bigger asset on the trade market, or they can trade Deng to fit him in more easily. On Seattle's end it's very simple: Better to take back a good player, even if he's redndant, than to lose Lewis for nothing.

They are better off trading for expirers and picks and waiting till nex summer or BIG 09 summer. Its not like they will be competing this year or the next with their young roster who in a couple of years will prob be a really good team or a contender. So why not wait. ? Or get more youth players in a PG or PF maybe ?

All of that would be nice, but can they actually pull it off? When a team signs and trades a free agent they don't have a lot of power to bargain beyond the player wanting more money and them being able to facilitate that.

Durant is pretty obviously headed for PF eventually. If you're that tall and you can rebound, it's almost a foregone conclusion.

Since Rashard can't rebound, he'll have to fight it out with Jeff Green over who's forced to guard SGs.
