moses malone - 3 mvps. twice defeated prime kareem head to head, once on the way to a finals loss against boston, once in the finals for a sweep and a ring.
EDIT:

switch me to DR. J. more influencial. i'm convinced by all the picks below me and jumping ship. i'll vote moses for 12.

Put me down for George Mikan. The guy was the first dominant big man the league ever saw. In his nine professional seasons he won seven championships, including five in the NBA. He's the hardest player to rank, due to his questionable competition, but the impact he had on the game was unquestionably enormous.

He's responsible for numerous rules changes such as the widening of the lane and the introduction of the shot clock. He was the leagues first legitimate superstar, who led the Lakers to five titles in six years(the only year they didn't win it was due to Mikan's broken leg). Because of all this, it's no wonder the Associated Press named Mikan the greatest player of the first half century. Many of you will strongly disagree with this selection, but his dominance in his era is comparable to the dominance of all other greats in their respective eras.

I agree, but the same guys who say Wilt played against white midgets will be all over this.
