On Monday, David Pingalore of WKMG-Local 6 CBS television in Orlando reported that a source of his says that the Orlando Magic and Rashard Lewis are 99 percent agreed upon a deal that would pay Lewis $15 million per season over 5 years. Pingalore also reported that it appears Darko Milicic is not in the Magic plans, and the team is probably going to let him become an unrestricted free agent. There's no article on this on their site, and we're paraphrasing it, but that's what was reported
Lets overpay, thats always a good way to build a contender. Oh thats right, not one team that has won a title since the salary cap got it by overpaying for free agents.
Worse than the Shard thing is the Darko thing though. I'm not a fan, but lets look at the whole situation.
So we traded a servicable backup big(Cato) and our first this year for a guy we knew wasnt going to give us anything for a couple of years anyway, starts to show he might be competent and you let him walk for nothing. So we traded him, then give up on him just as he starts looking average. That's like buying stock knowing it is going down over the next month and then as soon as it starts to look like making you some money selling it. Worse than that, it's so that you can put all your money into a vastly overrated share that has certainly peaked and is about to start a steep decline.
Why did Penny have to join the Magic... If we keep Webber I'd be a Spurs fan right now. Why oh why...
