that has nothing to do with what would happen if SJax guarded KG, b/c KG would back him down and score on him every time...
and didnt dallas lose to a team from golden state in the playoffs??? how many games did dallas lose to GS throughout the season and playoffs? at least 6 games, right?
you act like Dirk was guarded by just Stephen Jackson...Dirk was doubled at sometimes tripled the entire series...
I didn't watch any of the GS/Wolves games so I don't know how KG did...but what ever he did it wasn't enough to win the game for the wloves.
but let me make it clear that I do beleive Dirk is the softer player and I wouldn't mind seeing a Dirk/KG trade.
KG is obviously looked at as the stronger player because he has a post game. he is also a rebounding monster.
dirk in 06 pretty much carried the mavs past san antonio and phoenix.
avery johnson is a major reason why they lost. he doesnt know how to utilize his talent. he tries to change players to fit the system instead of changing the system to fit the players.
i will say dirk is a softer MVP. his numbers were not as great as KGs during their respective mvp seasons and KG got further in the playoffs, but i wouldnt mind having either on my team. each has different strengths and different weaknesses.
I don't know why this topic even needed to be made. I guess bashing Dirk is in fashion these days. But if you are going to have a thread about soft MVP's, why did you leave out David Robinson? Now this isn't to bash the Admiral. And I'm not out to anger the Spurs nation. But he did get dominated by Hakeen that year (no shame in that). And it did take Timmy playing along side him to win a championship.
Dirk. When Dirk puts up 24/14/6 in his MVP season and takes him team to the WCF, call me.
when KG gets to the finals and past the first round regularly, call me.
when KG stop being outplayed by Dirk anytime they meet in the playoffs, call me.
and btw, Dirk is not an ex-MVP. He's the current Most Valuable Player.
I remember when KG had to play point. No one else could get the ball up the court, so he'd take the inbound pass, dribble up the court, pass it to a wing and go into the post. It was funny.
