Default Turns out Tank wasnt Tanked

Tank Johnson's blood alcohol level was below the legal limit when the former Chicago Bears tackle was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving June 22 in Gilbert, Ariz.
Johnson's blood alcohol level was .072, under the presumptive limit in Arizona of .08 percent, police Sgt. Andrew Duncan said yesterday. No charges have been filed pending results of a completed investigation.

Johnson was arrested when officers pulled him over at 3:30 a.m. for driving 40 mph in a 25-mph zone. Duncan said an officer placed Johnson under arrest because he believed he was under the influence of alcohol. He was released without being booked or charged after providing a blood sample.

Johnson, 25, was released by the Bears 3 days after his arrest. At the time, the team said it was "upset and embarrassed" by the defensive tackle's legal troubles.

The Bears declined to comment yesterday.

Johnson was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 season for violating probation on a gun charge. He spent 2 months in jail and was released in May.

Last December, police raided the 300-pound Johnson's suburban Chicago home and found six unregistered firearms - a violation of his probation on an earlier gun charge.

Two days after the December raid, Willie B. Posey, Johnson's bodyguard, was shot and killed in an early-morning fight while he and Johnson were at a Chicago nightclub.

Johnson was suspended by the Bears for one game for being at the club. He played in the Super Bowl as the Bears lost to Indianapolis.

Thats messed up for Tank he actually didnt blow his shot, or does it matter at the point he was at to begin with?

I believe the Bears were fully aware of the possiblity of Tank not failing the drug test when they cut him. Breaking or not breaking the law is irrelevant from their perspective. The fact is that he put himself in the position to get in more trouble. They gave him one last chance to turn things around and he gave them his word that he would live up to his end of the deal, and he screws up within weeks of his jail release.

Yeah, they talked about this on Mike and Mike the other day. The bears knew he was below the legal limit. That was besides the point.

Just the fact that he was running around making headlines at 3 in the morning was enough, let alone the speeding ticket.

It shows that he really doesn't care enough to actually change his behavior. There's really very few reasons to be out that late when you're a pro football player, other than boozing it up at clubs and parties.
