My vote goes to Bob "The Cooz" Cousy.

He's constantly underrated and forgotten by casual fans (seeing as how they don't even know who the hell he is). He was one of the greatest passers ever, plain and simple. All those around the back passes and no looks? Bob Cousy introduced them to the NBA in the 50's. No looks, around the backs, under the legs, circus shots, no-look layups, you name it, he did it. He was the first one to bring in all that flashy stuff that current NBA players use today. Cousy was ahead of his time with his dribbling and passing skills. He was a playmaking icon, and some of the stuff you see the Steve Nash's and Jason Kidd's do were brought in by The Cooz. His array of passes and crazy shots brought the fans to their feet whenever he made a spectacular play. Cousy was also a very versatile player, who could dribble extremely well, pass with presice percision, penetrate to the rim at will and moved very quickly. A lot of players from his generation say it almost seemed like he was playing with his opponents on the court, as if he couls do whatever he wanted and nobody could stop him.

Though he was surrounded by future hall of famers on a great team, his excellence was never doubted. He was one of the best Celtics ever and played along side Bill Russell for a great 1-2 punch combo, along with the great K.C Jones, and other great players. Throw in arguably the greatest coach in NBA history in Arnold "Red" Auerbach, and you have one of the greatest teams ever assembled. He was a six time NBA champion and 10 time All-NBA first team player. He was known as the Houdini of the Hardwood because of his flashy passing and great court vision. He was also a 13-time All-Star, all in a row. He led the league in assists for 8 consecutive seasons and was almost unmatched in terms of passing in the 50's - 60's. In 1953 they faced the Syracuse Nationals and Cousy dominated game 2 in that series with 50 points and 30-32 FT shooting, a game often compared to Wilt's 100 point game in '62. Cousy was also the '57 MVP, being only one in 4 point guards in NBA history to do so.

Bob Cousy truly did dominate games with his passing ability and scoring ability, much like a Steve Nash. Personally, I think he should be ranked higher than Nash (obviously), Kidd and Stockton. He is also, obviously, a Hall of Fame inductee. (Inducted in 1971). He was the All-Star game MVP in '54 and '57. He holds the record for most assists in one half in NBA history with 19, and most free throws made in a playoff game with 30.He's one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History and is commonly forgotten by a lot of people, which is quite sad, looking back at all he had done through his illustrious career. The 50's Celtics were always known as a high scoring team, with a lot of that being because of Cousy's amazing passing and scoring skills. He's always been one of my personal favorite All-Time NBA players. Bob Cousy was the first and ultimate prototypical point guard, and he truly did revolutionize the point guard position, and is an all-time great without question.

Career Averages: 18.4PPG, 7.5APG, 5.2RPG, .803% FT, .375% FG.
Career Totals: 16,960 points, 6,955 assists, 4,786 rebounds, 924 career games.
Career Honors and Accolades: Elected to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (1971); NBA champion (1957, '59, '60, '61, '62, '63); NBA MVP (1957); 10-time All-NBA First Team (1952-61); All-NBA Second Team (1962, '63); 13-time All-Star; All-Star MVP (1954, '57); One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996).

Bob Cousy was a great player, but there's nothing about him that makes him a better player than Stockton, except for the six rings, and the "he did it first" arguement.(I've only seen a few old Celtic's games, so I'm basing that more on stats). My vote will go to David Robinson though, as he is on the same level as the likes of Karl Malone, and Bob Pettit.

Bob McAdoo

He had a 7 year period of averaging 28/13. His best season he averaged 34/14 on 50+ FG%.

5 time all star

ROY in 73, and made the all-rookie team.

In 1974-75 he was awarded the NBA Most Valuable Player Award, averaging 34.5 points, 14.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 80.5 percent from the free throw line.

Lead the league in rebounding (75), scoring (73-76) FG% (74).

NBA champion in 1982 & 1985. He made the finals in all 4 seasons with the lakers.

He made the postseason 9 times in his career.

He was stopped by the celtic chip team in 74 (he averaged 32/14 in the 74 playoffs).

In 75, he was stopped by Elvin Hayes' Bullets who lost in the finals that season (Bob averaged 37/13 in the playoffs that year).

In 76 he was again stopped by the championship celtic team (he averaged 28/14).

In 78 he was halted by Dr J's sixers (he averaged 24/10).

He had the misfortune of being on some teams that were not that great, and he dealt with health issues in his career. He became a Laker at the end of his career and won some titles as a sixth man.

Bob made the finals in all 4 seasons with the lakers, and in those 4 playoff runs, he averaged 17/7, 11/6, 14/5, 11/4 respectively. Not great numbers, but noteworthy considering his role as a reserve and declining health in the twilight of his career.

Bob was 6'9'' with a perimeter game. I guess he could be compared to Lamar Odom or a prime Webber with his physical abilities, able to play outside and inside with quickness and strength.

At his prime, he was one of the top players of his era, which is saying something.
