i knew it!!!!! ive been stickin by banks this whole time i knew hed find his niche!!!! seriously tho i have, no joke, i guess im kinda braggin....sorry
Come on guys settle down. He hasn't earned or proven anything yet. It's the summer league, and it's only 1 game. When Nash went out last year and Banks got big playing time by default, he had some impressive games but always followed it up with an equally bad game. His talent has never been in question, it's his decision making, outside shot, and consistency that needed to improve. The 4/5 from 3 was encouraging, if he can continue to shoot consistently from out there that's all I'd care about.
Also, he had 7 fouls and 6 turnovers vs 3 assists, so even this 1 great game in a meaningless setting wasn't great in every respect.
Maybe Banks can earn himself a role next year, but he needs to show he can contribute even when he's playing short minutes and is not the focus of the offense. There are too many good guards on our team right now for him to earn more than 15 or so minutes in the best case scenario, on of his biggest problems has been learning to convert that productivity he has had in big minutes into the small role that is available.
All that said, congrats to Banks on setting the scoring mark for the Vegas summer league
Marcus Banks is a talented player. He played well for Minnesota after being traded their two seasons ago. I thought he did a decent job in spot minutes this season.
WOW, i think u guys are a little too much in love with Barbosa......
IN a backup PG you want someone who can defend, decent shot, beat the press, and have a strong control dribble.
Barbosa only has the shot, he cant defend as quick as he is, and he is sloppy with the ball when pressured enough.
Banks is a millisecond slower then barbosa, and actually more athletic as far as strength, hops, overall besides speed.
They are the same age at 25. Many times banks would have been much more helpful against san antonio when they forced the tempo down. He may not make great descisions, but banks knows the fundamental things about passing. Dantoni and his brother need to stop coddling Barbosa because he might turn into a ***** like diaw some day.
Teams like banks because hes tough,id say hes your "toughest PG" on the team. you cant expect him to be a 8 assists a game player, but neither is Barbosa.

yep he sure did find his niche.....in the summer league. Lets not crown him just yet...
