Default Cody Runnels aka Cody Rhodes Debut in the WWE

Cody Runnels (born June 30, 1985) is an American professional wrestler currently signed by World Wrestling Entertainment to its RAW Brand, and is the current OVW Television Champion.

Runnels is the son of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes as well as the half-brother of Virgil Runnels III, better known as Dustin Runnels or Goldust. He is also nephew to "Nasty Boy" Jerry Sags and Fred Ottman, and his God-father is the legendary Magnum T.A.[1]

Career

Runnels formed a Tag Team with Shawn Spears in mid August of 2006 and began feuding with Deuce & Domino for the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship, capturing the gold from Deuce & Domino twice -- on October 18 and December 13, 2006.

While still OVW Southern Tag Champions, a rift developed between Cody and partner Spears. The two began to feud after Spears became jealous of Cody's success as a singles wrestler. This started when Cody won the OVW Heavyweight Championship from Paul Burchill at a house show on February 17, 2007, only to lose it back the next day. Spears went on to win the OVW Television Championship in response. On March 31, 2007 at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony Cody, alongside Dustin, inducted their father Dusty Rhodes into the Hall of Fame. On April 11, 2007, the duo lost the Southern Tag Titles. Cody went on to defeat his now heated rival on July 6, 2007, to become the new OVW Television Champion. In doing so he became the fourth OVW Triple Crown Champion, having held all three major titles there.

World Wrestling Entertainment

On May 29, 2007, Rhodes participated in a Dark Match before SmackDown!'s television tapings, in a match where he defeated Daivari. In that match with Daivari he was hit with an elbow to the head and had a severe cut, then after the match he was carried by the referees to the back of the arena to get stitches. He then appeared on the July 2, 2007 edition of Monday Night RAW backstage with his father Dusty Rhodes, and Randy Orton, in that segment Orton introduced himself to Cody and then slapped Dusty Rhodes. On July 9, 2007,Cody was in the ring with his father and Randy Orton. There, Cody slapped Orton for revenge. That week Dusty Rhodes challenged Orton to a Texas Bullrope Match at The Great American Bash. Then, Cody came out and slapped Orton in the face.

Trivia

Cody has worn wrestling gear that is half polka dots and half gold, which is a tribute to his father Dusty Rhodes and his half brother Dustin "Goldust" Runnels.

His favorite movies include "Bridges of Madison County" and "Notting Hill".

His favorite actor is Hugh Grant.

Cody - American Dream- II

Cody is a second generation superstar, the son of wrestling legend "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. Cody's training began at the age of 15, plus it doesn't hurt that wrestling practically runs in his blood. After a succesful high school wrestling career, Cody arrived in OVW in the summer of 2006.

Within a year of joining OVW, Cody already won the OVW Heavyweight title and held the Tag Team titles on two separate occassions. Now he joins an elite group of only three other men to ever hold all three major championships in OVW history. Already an OVW Triple Crown Champion only a year into his training, Cody seems destined to live up to "The American Dream."

His voice command is there, but he needs to loosen up a little bit and not sound so stiff. But, he can learn from the best with his father, one of the greatest talkers in the history of wrestling.
