Salary cap figures
According to the Daily Herald, we have $56.4 million committed to 11 players for this season. The luxury tax threshold is $67.9 million, so we have $11.5 million free. We also have $42 million committed to players next year, not including Gordon and Deng, who will be FA's next summer. Say we sign one of the power forwards we are interested in to a 2 or 3 year contract for the MLE, about $5 million/year. That means that next summer, when it comes time to extend our own players, and also look into a very deep FA class, we will have a payroll of about $47 million. The luxury tax threshold should go up to $69 or $70 million, so we will have about $22 million in cap space. How much should we pay Deng, and will we resign Gordon, sign and trade him, or just let him go? Or should we go for a more marquee FA this summer and cost ourselves a chance at a good one next summer?
