Default The Next Freshman Of The Year

Yes sir !!! Whos Oden to Durrant ? Oden is not even close to Durrant. He is the real phenom. His spotlight is being taken away because Greg Oden is a Center. Kevin Durrant is the real deal ! He will be the Freshman Of The Year ! Damn finally college is going to have stars you can watch.

Oden will keep getting the hype and if he plays even decently will take the award. The NBA has too much riding on it and NCAA owes the NBA bigtime for that age limit.

I think Pitino said it best that the NBA's age limit is more for the NBA than the NCAA. NCAA doesn't profit much from a bunch of one year and out players. It's not worth it, no college wants those players. NBA is only trying to help themselves by using college as a weed out system for high school players.

Default ..,

Durant could be better than Oden but he needs a better jumper and to get stronger. But more likely he will be a lamar odom like player.

NCAA benefits far more. They get the Kobe's, TMacs and Garnetts. You think college basketball wouldnt have been excited as hell to have Dorrell Wright, JR Smith and Josh Smith even if it's for one year? Then you get guys like Rudy Gay who really only plan on staying for one year but find out they like it and stay for a 2nd. NCAA gets the best HS players, that is a huge win for them. Sure the age limit stops the HSers, who lately havent even had the waiting period to produce, but NCAA is the huge winner. Just look at the hype that Greg Oden is creating or imagine if Bron was playing a year in college. It will also help to create more parity in college basketball. All of a sudden the very top players go to Duke and co and the guys that would have gone to them when those guys got drafted go to the next level teams. Basically Duke still gets the best players but they only stay for a year.

Who wants a bunch of one year and done players? That's not really helping the NCAA. Sure, it might get more competitive, but most likely those guys have no loyalty or commitment to the school. They're just there and then they're gone. For the players like Ndudi Ebi, Kwame, Dorrell Wright, it'll expose how unprepared they are for the league, which benefits the NBA not the NCAA.

A program like Duke doesn't take on many one year and done players. The only player in recent memory is Loul Deng. Guys like Battier, Boozer, Jay Williams, Mike Dunleavy, Ewing, Redick, Shelden, Paulus, McRoberts etc have all stayed for most of their college careers. Which leads me to believe that all those one year players won't be recruited by Duke or any university that is trying to bolster their reputation with committed and loyal players, not the ones who are trying to use the college.

In the end, the rule is there for the NBA. It's basically helping the 30 teams with their scouting by forcing players to play at a bigger stage and to see if they're ready or not. Stern has seen so many wasted draft picks that he's there to help the crappy teams, who tend more to pick the high schoolers with lotto picks.

I'm not a Tech fan by any means but Thaddeus Young is gonna be in contention for this award. He has already come out and said that he's only gonna be in college for a year, so he's gonna be playing with the primary intent of impressing the scouts, which means a lot minutes, ppoints and rebounds.

u forgot Maggette..he was a 1 and done...Avery came out early too

its a fine line i think...cuz look at Carmelo, Cuse knew he was a one and done...
i think it helps both, because just because they are forced to go to NCAA doesn't mean they will all be 1 and done..and i think some actually planned on goin to college before the age limit...like im excited as hell to see Ohio State next year and i think so is everyone else

Good soo they get to keep them and develop them. This rule benifits NCAA too because example Rudy Gay was sopouse to come out last year but he knews if he stayed one more year that team would be his, not Charlie Villanueva's. He stayed and helped his stock. players will stay.
