Default Philadelphia Phillies Thread

How many here are still fans? I think we need a thread to discuss the team.

So what are your thoughts?

Should we trade Abreu? (Just did)

Do we have a chance at the Wild Card? (No)

Seriously.....are you trying to give me an aneurysm.

They are in too bad a way to even write about them. (except Howard/Utley)

True. But it's baseball season. This thread is to cheer after wins, complain after losses. It's about yelling at Abreu and cheering for Howard. It's for the upcoming trades. And it's for asking for Charlie Manuel to be fired. Especially that last one.

Default Phillies will make the wildcard

The philadelphia phillies iwll make the wildcard And just think they are only 5 games out and everyone says our team is bad look at the royals we still have another half of the season left i think we should not trade abreu cause our meat of the lineup is gone there goes all of our rbi and dont say we have howard because we cant depend on him and to make the wildcard everyones gonna have to hit. And if howard cant do it everyones gonna be mad at him. and outo f all this the phillies will make the playoffs

Go Phils?

The Phillies aren't that far out of the wildcard, but they haven't shown that they can get any better.

Should they trade Abreu, or look for some stop gap pieces and try to make the playoffs this season?

And what were you expecting??? Phillies have no leverage. They want to get rid of him and his contract. Teams are willing to eat his deal and do them a favor to save money but they arent giving up top prospects for it. Phillies saved money getting rid of both Abreu and Lidle and not having to pay money besides $1.5 to Abreu for him to waive his no trade clause.

Burrell is next to go. Libey comes off the books at $8.5mil i believe. Phillies gonna rebuild and rebuild around young core with some pitching which this team lacks. Question isnt who we got for Bobby the question is what pitching will come here? This is a hitters park, they are gonna have to overpay.

I was kind of hoping some prospects would come in return. They basically traded Abreu and Lidle for less value than Lidle.

We have no idea how valuable the guys we got in return are, and won't for another 2-3 years. I like the fact that we got a No. 1 pick in C.J. Henry out of them, but I am shocked we got nobody who could even potentially be a starter in the future.

this is weird i kno, but im a houston astros and 76ers fan. And being a houston fan, i will honestly say that we will win wild card or division, and even tho the fightins are playin well, they dont have nearly enough to make playoffs, even with utley and howard doin what theyre doin. By the way i love what howard's doing cuz he is comfortably on my fantasy team.

Rowand is out 4-6 weeks with a broken ankle. The guy plays hard, though. No thought about his saftey. Hopefully, the team can manage without him. And thank God Utley was hurt.

It's annoying that I can't change the title. I wanted to update things like in the old forum.

I'm a Phillies fan.

Some news: The Phillies traded Jamie Moyer and Jeff Conine.
