I think their selection of Funk/Soul/R&B is respectable. Obviously no list of this type will please everybody; but they have a good selection of classic albums there. And given the source of the list, it's understandable that it's not overflowing with the more obscure funk/soul classics.

Respectable more like disrespectable. Thire is probally the same number of rap albums and R&B albums. And the countless Rock albums is crazy.

Yeah, the Rock & Roll hall of fame has a disgusting predilection for rock albums. It's outrageous.

I know what you're thinking but, Rock & Roll and Rock are two totally different things.

My points of contention (there are many). I can live with any of the top 10 albums/artists in some order because they all have arguements (although I put Pet Sounds as #1).

Supernatural, while a good album, is not #11.
Stevie Wonder should be moved up (almost always)

After that, there are so many things I find wrong, I don't even know where to start. How can Eminem be the top rated rap album? It isn't the best, it wasn't the first so...

17. AC/DC – BACK IN BLACK
this is a top 5 album of all time hands down. anywhere outside there, nevermind barely cracking the top 20, is a f*cking travesty.

32. GUNS ‘N ROSES –APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION
this is the second best rock and roll album of the 1980s, and it gets beat out by dr FAWKING dre? i honestly want to kill the person that made this list now.

"are you experienced," "boston" are too low, and having the absolute audacity to put "pronounced leh-nerd ske-nerd" in the lower hundreds cannot be accounted for. whoever put this together better watch his back.

no chuck berry either. thats ok, its not like the guy was one of the forerunners of changing the way the electric guitar is played or anything. but no ccr is easily the most glaring ommission so far.

I can name many albums from the 80's that were better than AFD. If this is just your personal opinion, than I won't bother arguing because to each his own.

well, thats inherently the problem with these rankings. but his list lacks even common sense. for instance, any rock and roll fan agrees that AFD belongs on that list higher than dr. fawking dre. its personal choice, yes; to me, back in black and appetite for destruction were the two best rock albums of the decade. afd is debateable, but back in black as #1 absolutely is not.

154. WILL SMITH – BIG WILLIE STYLE
what a travesty.

36 chambers? if illmatic is in there as well with the fugees, the wu should also be in there. i agree with illmatic and the score being classics, but big willie style is not that. what the hell was on that album? getting jiggy with it? welcome to miami? please.

36 chambers garnered copycats for years.
