It's a really nice day out right now but I see no kids outside playing at all. When I was 7-12/14 years old I would be outside all day during the summer. I would be outside in my driveway playing basketball or at the park playing baseball/softball or basketball. I'd be riding my bike, in my backyard swimming or at the local swimming pool. The only times I would go inside would be to get something to eat or when it got dark around 9/9:30.
Even when there was really nothing to do my friends and I would walk down the street or ride our bikes to 7 11 and buy some slurpees and just sit in front of one our houses and chill. Do kids spend too much time inside playing video games and going on the internet now?
Yeah young kids are rarely outside. Video games by day, video games by night then. If they are outside they're usually at the pool.
More and more families go on vacation these days so I'm sure that is part of the reason.
I don't think most people below age 15 go to the park to play ball anyway... kinda young right? It's mostly high schoolers occupying those areas. They wouldn't play much. That's why I thought you were talking about people my age.
No but kids these days? It's 100% video games with a little TV mixed in. It's all they do. It's terrible.
I don't think below the age of 15 is too young to go to the park and play some sports. When I was 10/11/12 I was going to the park with my friends and playing baseball and basketball. I was in summer baseball and softball leagues. I had a basketball hoop in my driveway when I was 9 years old and spent hours outside every day during the summer shooting around with my friends.
And it's not like I didn't play any video games myself. I loved Super Nintendo when I was a kid but I only played that at night or during a rainy day or during the fall/winter when it was too cold to go outside.

- It's so many kids channells on TV they have no reason to go out side.
- It they're not watching the tube their are playing the countless games systems out.
- If they are not doing those things, they are on the internet doing who knows what.
Back when my parents were young, hell back when I was young 10 or so years ago, I freakin' lived outside.
When I was at that age I was always playing basketball with kids on the block. If we weren't we were either playing home run derby with a tennis ball or trying to find people to play street hockey with us. Kids today just seem to always play video games or watch tons of tv. Kinda sad when you think about it.
I'm in high school. I got to the gym or play ball during the day, and party in the dark(alchohol). Its basically like that for every high school kid. Other than that, the other kids sit at home and play around on myspace(gay).
I wonder if any kid actually goes up to their friend's house and asks if they can come out to play anymore? I know it sounds kind of gay but I had a lot of friends on my block and we didn't have the internet for phones in our rooms so I would get off my ass and walk next door and ask if my friend wanted to come out and hang out. Nowadays, I'm sure that rarely ever happens.
