Do you know any 7-footer shooting 90% from the line winning a ring? So Dirk should stop that crap?

So this is proof that Dirk CAN'T post-up? What if he doesn't want to? I HAVE seen Dirk play, and can confirm that he does have a couple of moves inside the pain that he uses to his advantage. He's just not a post player, he's soft but that doesn't mean he's not good. Why else would he be MVP?

You know what a mismatch is, by the way? 7'0 with best shooting in the world vs. 6'5 What do you think?

NO LIST

I guess I'm on the right track.

Isn't 90% crap based on the SEASON?
Then YES he should stop that crap because 90% from the line is not going to get him a ring. By the way he needs to show off his 90% crap in the clutch moments.

OK let's leave it like that, Dirk cant post but he's gonna have to do something with that. He cant let no guards bully him (Stephen Jackson, Matt Barnes, M Pietrus). Oh anyways wasnt that a mismatch exactly what you were talking about, what happened right there with the mismatch crap?

You really believe that the reason Okur was outscored by Yao and Duncan was that he was shooting threes? Seriously?

I messed up right there, I meant that Okur was outscored by Yao and Duncan, because he's not comfortable in the paint, and that's why he was shoting threes.

And that instead of shooting threes he should work on posting.

Personally, I think Okur got outscored by Duncan and Yao because they are way more talented.

I'm pretty sure the list of 7-footers NOT shooting threes AND NOT winning rings is much longer!

I think that even if Okur were comfortable in the paint, he would have been outscored by Yao and Duncan; they are just flat out better players than he is.

A three point shooting center can be of great benefit to a team. He forces the opposing big men to guard him on the perimeter, thus opening up the paint for his teammates to drive and create. It all depends on how his play is incorporated into the context of the offense. Not all 3 point shooting by big men is bad.

If you remember, one of the Lakers' main problems when they faced the Blazers back in the day was Sabonis's ability to hit the three. Shaq, who wasn't comfortable stepping out onto the perimeter, was forced to do so in guarding Sabonis. When Shaq didn't step up, Sabonis would take the three. When he did, Stoudemire would find ways to get into the paint and score because of the lack of shot blocking inside. The good thing about Sabonis is that he also had somewhat of a low post game.

I think that if a big man can operate from the post and can also hit threes, he should use every weapon in his arsenal as effectively as possible. Even then, I don't fault players like Dirk and Okur for their perimeter games. They are very good at what they do. The key is to surround them with, or allow them to play with others who complement their strengths.

mostly every player does what he does best.

three-point shooting doesn't win championships by itself, true. but why is dirk supposed to stop shooting, when he's one of best shooters anywhere, on any position, and bang in the post when he's a mediocre post player?

you play the game on your strengths.
yes, dirk would be even deadlier if he was better in the post.

but, thing is, he isn't. and i doubt he really becomes much better at his age. no superstar is supposed to play outside of his comfort zone - which made him a superstar in first place. if we call someone a superstar, a franchise player, it already means he's pretty damn good at whatever he's doing. and it's up to GM to surround him with the fitting supporting cast.

Shaq still won the battle. You cant compare Shaq with Sabonis.
And wasnt Sabonis strrugling even more to defend Shaq in the paint?
