They should stop trying to make everything exactly like it is in real life and instead try to make their animations just look decent in video game format.
Exactly. I don't care if I can see players sweat. I don't care if I can see each board in the parquet floor, I care that the player going in for the layup looks like a broken marionette.
And even more important to me is simple common sense bug fixing. It absolutely infuriates me when I go for a shot near the basket and it forces some awful jumpshot animation from six inches away from the rim. Or, you go for a move underneath and the player shoots from behind the backboard, or the worst is when you're going in for a layup and get blocked by the rim. Yeah, -THAT'S- what I wanted to do. This happens in both Live and 2k, so there's no reprieve for either series. If it's Tony Parker screaming in for a dunk from the free throw line, I could understand it, but when Yao's layup hits the bottom side of the rim, that's just piss-poor programming.
Make the gameplay smooth, make the animations smooth, THEN work on making the graphics realistic. Have you ever noticed that there are never any problems or bugs with the advertising/sponsors in the game? Those ads scroll by real nice on the scorer's table, don't they? ;)
