It really depends on your bone size. If you have small bones, you'll look chunky. If they're large, you won't look as fat. I think you're good where you are. Just work out and turn that weight into muscle.

140 at 5'5" is perfectly normal

According to BMI (body mass index) that is perfectly normal. The most you should weight at that height is 155. Anything over that is considered overweight. Lowest you should be at that height is 120. Anything under that is underweight.

Considering I'm half Cherokee Indian, I'm a huge person and would look ridiculous if I were skinny. I'm 6'2" weighing in at 240 lbs. If I weighed what the doctor said I should, I would be skin and bones, screw the doctor. I'm not fat at all, and I'm in pretty good shape. Indians are supposed to be big, and I love it.

5'5" `140lbs. that's not fat. if you're over 165lbs, now we gotta problem.

Work on your abs, you should feel a difference.

I'm 5'6 and 13 but I'm about 150, mostly muscle. I thought I was fat but I checked and my BF was really low. As long as you're in shape and don;t have trouble breathing than you're ok.
