Default High School HELP! PLEASE!

Hey guys, i know nothing about high school basketball.

So, could you guys please explain the formatting (conferencnes, divisions ect.) and who the big teams are.

Just give me the idiots guide to high school ball.

Also, i'm from England and i was wondering if i left school back home at age 16, what would be the best route to play high school ball (eg. recruiting info) and eventualy college ball?

Any help?

i dont know all that much about HS basketball myself, but it varies from state to state. teams play locally, they dont travel cross country to play a HS basketball game. so theres really no "big" teams in the country. if ure from new york, u probably wont know the "big" HS in los angeles, unless u know of a player who came from there. in new york some of the big schools are christ the king, lincoln, rice, lasalle.

as far as makin a HS team, u just try out and if ure good enough u make the team. college ball? if ure good in HS u might get recruited or if ur team sucks u can try out

Or would i got like to a camp and lots of HS coaches would be there?

if you are good, go to recruiting camps. Hoop Group, 5 Star, etc. (google them if you need to). College coaches and scouts go to these events. You need to stand out quite a bit from the crowd to get noticed. Very few kids at these camps get noticed and go D1. Not too many get noticed and go D2 or D3 -- like I said, you really need to be much better than the majority of the kids playing at these camps. Be extremely aggressive and don't be afraid to be selfish and shoot a lot, nobody else is.

If you want to play ball for a team over here at your age, a prep school is your best bet. Here is a schedule from one tournament with all of the best prep schools in the country. Each prep school listed here has a very good basketball team.

1 p.m. St. Thomas More (Conn.) vs. Fork Union Military Academy (Va.)
2:30 p.m. Notre Dame Prep (Mass.) vs. Hargrave Military Academy (Va.)
4:20 p.m. Bridgton Academy (Maine) vs. Patterson School (N.C.)
6 p.m. Winchendon School (Mass.) vs. Our Savior New American (N.Y.)
7:40 p.m. St. Andrew's (R.I.) vs. Maine Central Institute (Maine)

Sat., Nov. 19

9:30 a.m. Our Savior New American (N.Y.) vs. Boys to Men (Ill.)
11:10 a.m. Worcester Academy (Mass.) vs. Hargrave Military Academy (Va.)
12:50 p.m. Bridgton Academy (Maine) vs. Massanutten (Woodstock, Va.)
2:30 p.m. South Kent School (Conn.) vs. Fork Union Military Academy (Va.)
4:10 p.m. St. Thomas More (Conn.) vs. Laurinburg Institute (N.C.)
5:50 p.m. Brewster Academy (N.H.) vs. Philly Lutheran (Pa.)
7:30 p.m. Notre Dame Prep (Mass.) vs. Patterson School (N.C.)
9:10 p.m. New Hampton School (N.H.) vs. Champlain St. Lambert (Canada)

Here is a (random but accurate) high school top 25 ranking: best high schools in the country. Usually you'd go by usatoday's power rankings, but these work too. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ngs/index.html

Yeah you gotta be the Larry Bird of England. You should be sleeping with your ball. Carry it everywhere and spend all your time in the gym. Thats what it takes.

I'm 13, and i'm just thinking ahead.
I can play, and i'm not bragging. I have played for my county (state) and played in trails for my country (i was the youngest player). And i know i am one of the top 100 players born in 1993 in the whole country.I am the starting PG at one of the top clubs in the country.

So, i'm only 13 and not that experienced, but i could do something in this game, i'm dedicated.

Talk to your coach. If he's not a moron, then he would be the first person to talk to. He should have a few connections, and might be able to help you out.

I live in Canada, and I got noticed by a few universities after competing in showcase tournaments with my OBA team. You should do the same. See what teams in your area travel to the US, and tryout for them. That's all I can think of. Maybe you could also tape your games, and have your coach send to somebody?
