Hey, look...he MIGHT become a good player. We don't know. But you don't spend $15 million on potential. That's unbeliavably crazy...

Even if he DOES turn into a very good player, (and that's still a big if), he's probably STILL not worth $15 million a year. Only top maybe 20 players in the league are worth that....

Again, if Magic, pay for the one year rental of Darko, then see where you are at in 2007....

In 4 years you guys are gonna wish your team had the cap room to lose to get Darko. Sooner or later you're going to learn to trust geeWiz on matters such as these.

Well, if Bosh, Melo, and Wade are getting Max contracts...and Darko was drafted ahead of them..it only makes sense to give him a max contract...

If A, then B...if B, then C....therefore if A, then C

it's pure logic...

better to give him 7-8/year for 5 years than him blowing up and having to max him out

This is getting funny. He's NOT gonna be maxed out. HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING. Players who do nothing don't get maxed out....he'll be lucky if he gets more than 5 mil a year....

I agree with geewiz completely he will be a formidable running mate with dwight for the next 10 years. make jokes now but he will crush our teams if he continues to develop. If you guys checked boxscores during his time with orlando you'd know what im talking about, regardless of how he does it he could put up 10-5-2-2 pretty regularly last year.

you're on the wrong page kid

they can sign him for 5 years at 7-8 as opposed to giving him the qualifying offer and then him blowing up and then later theyll have to max him out. so it ends up cheaper.

You can't give a guy 8 million dollars for doing NOTHING. Who knows if he can even play? He sat on the bench for 2 1/2 years. Who knows what he's gonna do? The Magic aren't gonna do that....

And even if he DOES play well, how much money you think he's gonna get? 10 million? Come on...be realistic....

At least Nene has done SOMETHING. Darko has literally done NOTHING. Literally. He hasn't done anything. Nothing. Zero.....

You gonna pay Darko for zero?

WTF has Nene done, his career high was 12 pts, and that's on 30 minutes. Darko last year with the Magic had almost 8 pts in 20 minutes, and with a new role and team. Just face it, if Nene can get 60 million, then Darko should get it. Darko potential and skills will land him a contract close to Nene's, and if Orlando is lucky enough to get him for 5/40 million, they should sign it ASAP.

all Darko needs to do to earn a contract worth 8+ million per year is show further imporvement on what he did with the magic during hte second haf of last year - averaged:
7.6 at .507, 4.1, 2.0 bpg if that becomes
12, 6, 3 over a full season he'll get a Nene deal for sure (those are similar numbers to Nene or Dalembert) if he does much better than those numbers someone with cap space will offer him the max next summer.

Neither the Magic nor Darko will want to sign him up this year - Darko for fear of being underpaid, Magic for fear of overpaying.

seriously have you seen the money CRAP USELESS DO NOTHING centres get paid in the nba. Adonal Foyle got a 5 year contract starting at $6 million as a 28yo... Darko isn't going to get that at 22years of age?
