You spoke on offense, I countered with defense. You're lookin at the Pistons scoring more and I'm lookin at the sacrfice at the other end which happens to be DEFENSE. You know the staple of Detroit, the reason Detroit has emerged as one of the best teams in the league the last few seasons. Damn sure wasnt offense. But yeah Flip gonna bring that offense off the bench. Didnt expect you to mention what he doesnt do.
Billups: 1st Team All Defense
Tayshaun: 2nd Team All Defense
Sheed: Missed 2nd Team by 1 Vote
Nazr: Good low post defender
Dyess: Adequate to good low post defender
Hunter: Excellent pressure defender
You lost the cog in the middle that blocked, altered and protected the middle. The DPOY. Yeah his prescence/impact on the defensive end doesnt affect the rest of the club right? Right??!
ebay.com has a big on clues, it would be in your best interest to bid on one idiot, oops thats just someone who is acting foolishly. Not an insult more like just tappin your shoulder and giving an honest opinion.
I am trying to find what's going on with Macei Baston who played the last few years with Maccabi Tel Aviv and said this year he is going to try whatever he can to find a job in the NBA. He was supposed to paly for the Spurs in the Utah summer league but he is not there. Have you heard anything about his intentions with any of the NBA teams the last few days?
Maybe someone should enlighten you on certain rule changes since our 2004 championship run.
Maybe you should go down to Blockbuster, or if you're already at work step out from behind the counter, and pick up the 2005 and 2006 championship videos and watch the Pistons 3 pea...err, wait, oh yeah, we didn't win **** and Ben laid a massive egg in the playoffs the past two years.
His presence and fear he instilled in the other team will be missed in addition to his shot blocking. I will not argue. More a psychological thing. But there's no denying him getting beasted the past two playoffs.
We have several very good defenders, and in case you haven't been paying attention the rules are different.
You guys do realize that the reason all those guys are 1st team all defense rather than the average defenders they have been the rest of their careers is because they were playing with Ben, right? Now, Ben's gone, Flip's the coach, and they just signed Flip Murray. Defense is an afterthought to this team now.
Not to mention, even with Ben, they were barely above average for at least 3 1/2 quarters a game last season because of their coaching and complacency. And now their biggest hustle guy is gone
Yes Ben is gone. I know this, a great interior defender makes a big difference on the perimeter. His intensity and weak side shot blocking will be missed.
Do you also know that Sheed is a good shot blocker and prolly the best low post defender in the NBA?
Do you know Nazr and Dyess are also very good low post defenders? Not to mention DD who is a solid defender, or at least he was last time he came out of hibernation.
Do you realize Ben has been in rapid decline? Did you catch the 2005 or 2006 playoffs?
Did you by chance see how many championships we've won the past 2 years?
Additionally, I wouldn't totally discredit Chauncey, Sheed, Tay, Dyess, and Hunter's defensive skills with the loss of Ben.
You don't start off a thread saying "i heard the nuggz were going to get JR Smith in a trade" and then don't say what they'd give up in return. that's why it's fair to say this latest JR Smith rumor was 100% made up.
This is assuming the Heat will show up for the regular season. When all their key players except 1, are a year older, at an age when a year older makes a difference.
It should be a close regular season.
Plus, it's very possible Pistons win 55-60 considering they added nearly 10ppg to their starting lineup and 11 ppg to their bench at the guard position. They could mop up on the crap East teams and pile up some wins.
