Southern California/ San DIEGO = best place to live.

we got the best weather
we got the best beach
we got hot women of all nationalities
we got great job opportunities
we're laid back and relaxed.

New york city sounds really nice though.. i wanna try living there.

You should make a list of the most important quality of life issues for you (do you hate the snow, do you like to be able to go outside (pleasantly) in the summer (not houston), do you love mountains, or lakes, do you want to be near lots of young women (cali or a college dominant town like austin). What industry are you pursuing? The list goes on. For my money, I love New Mexico (too many people live in the SW already - look at the rivers that carved the Phoenix basin - in about 100 years we have drained that water table over 120 ft) and northern MI (YOu can probably tell I live being outside). But really a place is what you make of it.

My preferences:

Women: Any kind
Weather: HOT (not much rain)
Industry: Engineering (specifically electrical or chemical)
Housing: Low prices, big houses (you don't find that in New York)
Crime: Obviously low
Job Opportunities: Medium to high

Perfect place?

You're not missing much. NYC is the exact opposite of what you just described as your ideal location. S**** weather, no beaches, bad pollution, high crime rates, and is a city that's as relaxed as the Tasmanian Devil on speed. San Diego? I have relatives there and love it every time I go down. NYC? I'll pass. Boston>>>New York.

Oregon's pretty nice because you have all types of activities in one state.

You've got:

• Snowboarding/Skiing - Mt. Hood
• Hunting - Pretty much everywhere
• Hiking/Mountain Climbing - Mt. Hood and other areas
• Scenery - Crater Lake/Mt.Hood/Oregon Coast/Columbia River Gorge
• Fishing - Columbia/Siltetz/Dishutes/Sandy rivers
• Ocean - Seaside/Lincoln City/Cannon Beach
• Gambling - Spirit Mountain/Chinook Winds casinos
• Bars/Shopping/Night life - Downtown Portland
• NBA Basketball/Minor League Hockey/NLL Lacross/Music concerts - Rose Garden
• Minor League Baseball - PGE Park
• Semi Pro Soccer - PGE Park
• College Sports - Oregon Ducks/OSU Beavers/Portland State Vikings
• US Track & Field - Eugene
• Auto Racing - Portland Speedway
• Motocross - Many places
• Dog/Horse racing - Portland Meadows/Multnomah Greyhound Park

Plus we also have one of the largest amount of micro beer brewerys in the world. Germany is the only one I think that has more. Good beer in Portland.

i love how people all name their hometowns. can't blame you though because i would have said NY.
We have everything you can think of and then some more. Prices can get a bit crazy though. A parking spot in Manhattan can cost you more than a house in pennsylvania

I've heard. I want to visit there one of these days. Everyone knows how NY is our main town of America. I'm not a fool.

Just thought everyone would want to know the nice things about Oregon.

I have been intrigued by portland from what i've read, sounds like a quiet beautiful place. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about job opportunities (engineering) and price of housing ?

I'm not sure about engineering jobs right now, but there are a lot of technical type careers out here. Beaverton and Portland are loaded with software and tech type companies. You can pretty much find any type of job here. The fields vary.

I live in a nice condo, 2 bed and 2 bath in a rich part of town and I bought it for $140,000 and I think it's worth $190,000 now. It's been 4 years. I'm not sure how much houses cost. My sis just bought one for a million but she's rich and it's nice! B?tch. :)

I would search on the web if you are interested. The good places to live are Portland, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Eugene, and some others I can't think of. Don't live in Gresham. I grew up there and it's turned into gang land. I had to move.

I live in NYC and I hate it. The only way I can leave is if I become set for life because I'm going to start a business where I have to stay in the New York metro area. Southern California, suburban Miami, surburban Atlanta> NYC. If I had a choice, I'd take California.

Yeah it rains. But not as much as you think. The summers are pretty much dry and it does rain in the spring and fall. You get your sunny days here and there. Just like Seattle. It's not as bad as they say.

That's how we get all the trees and green scenery I suppose.

I live in Atlanta right now but I want to move out to either Chicago or New York when I'm old enough.
