What an offseason for the Magic. Downgrade at SF(but pay more), pay less and downgrade at backup C/PF.

So we rely completely on Dwight and Jameer improving a lot for us to be any better. Meanwhile other teams in the east actually made moves to improve!

I disagree with only one thing here. That thing is the 'downgrade' at the SF position. They haven't downgraded that position. They've made it stronger. They made more. A lot more, but they still upgraded it. Added a guy in his prime, who can play. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 7 years, you'll know that Grant Hill is probably the most unreliable player in the NBA as far as just turning up to the game is concerned.

Also, I don't think you've factored in development of other players on the team either. Ariza was showing he could definitely be a starter on some teams in the league with his athleticism and defense abilities. That's the perfect combo right there for a SF position. Offense provided by Lewis, and defense by Ariza. Add the shooting of Hedo, who can play the PF and stretch defenses and this team isn't looking too bad even with the stupid signing of Foyle.

I was hearing recently that the Charles Oakley was interested in playing with the Magic for the year. I wouldn't have a problem with that either. He's old, but he's probably got more skill and toughness then Foyle. I think the contract price he was asking for was too much though. He was asking for more then the veterans minimum. No one in their right mind would give him that. Either way, though, he'd probably be more effective then what Foyle will be for the Magic this coming season.

LOL @ the Warriors drafting him, then re-signing him. Likely going something like this...

"He's raw... he's from Canouan... he's athletic and big... he's smart cuz he writes poems... and he's a hard worker and a good person. I mean.. he can really only improve form here... right guys?"

Sounds like Etan Thomas.

(except for the "from Canouan" [sic] part)

Sucks being a Magic fan...

Good thing when I was in O-Town, I only went to see the opposing teams play.

The problem with the Magic - that was there last year and remains this year- is that no one on that team knows how to move the ball.

Hill was the only guy that could do it last year, and when he was effective the team won.

On good/vet teams (Pistons, spurs) everyone moves the ball..so you don't get a dominant socrer or a dominant passer, just a dominant team. On most teams, you generally rely on the pg to distribute the ball. Its not ntil the other 5 learn how to do it that the team gets "over the top". On bad teams, no one moves the ball.

Orl pg does not move the ball, I do not know about their SG, their sf does not move the ball, their pf has 0 idea, and their center has no idea.

The only change from last year is from Turk (who didn't know how to move the ball) we now have 'Shard (who doesn't know how to move the ball). And the loss of Hill, who does know how, to unknown and we don't know about unknown (obviously).

The should have spent their vet min on Brevin Knight and moved Nelson over.

Well, they had tony battie in the middle. Foyle is certainly an upgrade from him IMO. + this means there is less of a chance of them going small with dwight as center and lewis as PF which would fail miserably.

What I meant to say was "How could anyone want Foyle, when there are still other guys available who are MUCH better then he is who are willing to sign for that **** $1.2 million deal that Foyle got. Honestly could the Magic not have found anyone better to sign for $1.2 million? ****!!

They should sign Chris Webber. I heard they were talking to him and he'd be a great fit.

How do you expect them to do that? MLE? Please. LLE? **** off. They have no money for him. Sign and trade would be the easiest way, and I'm almost certain that the Pistons (his former team) would ask for young talent that Orlando CANNOT give up at this point in time.

C-Webb isn't worth anymore than the MLE. I wouldn't see the point in Dallas signing him and he didn't really help the Pistons much in the playoffs. Orlando would be the best fit.
