LMAO... I don't think he's that good but I love his Waltonisms...
"Is there a better shot blocker than Vlade Divac?"
"Where would the Clippers be without Sean Rooks?"
“Danny Ferry is just a tremendous player...”
"He's everywhere! Rebounds, assists... Shawn Bradley is looking like Hakeem Olajuwon!"
"What a pathetic play from a pathetic human being."
"that NBA legend from UCLA Dan Gadzuric"
"Coach Wooden the greatest human being ever..."
ect ect ect... :)
Such creativity. No one is capable of saying these very phrases like Bill Walton. Respect the man, he might be the most humble past/present superstar.
i was just about to write that, when i was checking to make sure no one wrote already, and you do so kudos to you hahaha
walton is the "king of the hyperbole" loves to blow thngs out of proportion
it all depends on which game his annoucing
and he somehow it seems he always works in coach wooden into every broadcast haha
he is very annoying most of the time, but its entertaining to hear some of the things he says
I can't stand him. He has a love affair with Shaquille O'Neal, he talks like his mouth is full of $hit, and he used to always start crap with the other broadcasters, particularly Snapper Jones when he was there.
I'm not convinced how "knowledgeable" he is, either. Any good broadcaster can research their teams before the game and have stuff written down.
He just seems to have a want to babble some random obscure fact, and people think that makes him intelligent.
I can't think of too many broadcasters I like less.
to me it sounds more like he just got out of having a root canal and the anesthesia hasn't worn off yet lol
I like Mike Tirico, even though he's never really been a lead. Steve Kerr and Marv Alberts are ok. Doug Collins is great. I also kind've like Reggie Miller.
I can't stand Doug Collins and his ballwashing of Shane Battier (and all the other players who "do the little things" (translation: dudes who flop)). He can't get through a quarter without mentioning that he coached MJ, either. HE GOT YOU FIRED. YOU PIECE OF ****. SHUT UP. I appreciate his knowledge, but he gets on my nerves.
I'm going to miss Steve Kerr so much, liked his sense of humor a lot, he's got good chemistry with Marv.
I'm not sure what's up with all the Marc Jackson hate, the few Nets games I've seen where he was paired with Eagle, he hasn't detracted from my viewing experience.
If Bill Walton did not talk so much, he'd probably be interesting. He just does not know when to shut up.
True story: He was a guest (paid) a company my friend works for (a major computer company), a few years back at their annual meeting. He was allotted something like 30 minutes to do present and it had a motivational theme as you might imagine for such a venue. Anyway, he kept talking and talking and talking, and literally, they had to pull him off the stage. He went like almost a half hour over and probably could have talked for another three hours.
