Default Official #73 NBA Player Of All Time According To ISH

#72 - Bob Lanier. One of the great big men of the 1970s and early 80s. He played early in his career with the Detroit Pistons. There he made his name a big center who could score and rebound with the best of them. In his 9 seasons with the Pistons he made the All-Star team 7 times winning MVP in 1974. He was traded to Milwaukee, and up and coming team that needed a veteran presence. He was an All-Star for the last time in 82 and helped them to the Eastern Conference Finals only to come up short in his last season.

RAY ALLEN

-7 time all star (not voted in by the fans either..unlike vince carter)
-holds NBA single season record with 269 3 pointers made in a season. During that season he missed 4 games which means he made 3 1/2 three-pointers per game!
-2nd all team in 3 pointers made behind reggie miller (will probably pass him)
- 2 time all nba
- Olymic Gold medalist in Sydney (2000)
-maybe the most underrated Dunker of all-time.
-one of the best free-throw shooters of all time
- career average of 21.5 ppg, scoring 26 ppg and 25 ppg his last two seasons in his 30s.
-Career Highs:
PPG: 26.4
Reb: 5.6
Asst: 5.9
Stls: 1.6

-and last but not least, Ray Allen has the best calf muscles of all time. period.

I again vote for Neil Johnston.

None of these players accomplished more in their NBA careers than did Neil Johnston.

Every NBA MVP is on this list. There were no MVPs for the first 9 seasons of the league, though. Looking at the closest thing to the MVP for those 9 seasons, the leader in All-NBA Team votes, that leaves 2 MVPs not on this list: Johnston and Joe Fulks. Johnston was the "MVP" of the 1954-55 season, where he led the league in points and rebounds and was 4th in FG%.

There isn't one player left with more All-NBA Team selections than Johnston's 5. Only 2 players left have as many All-NBA 1st Team selections as Johnston--predictably, they are players from his own era: Bob Davies and Max Zaslofsky.

Every NBA scoring champion since the 1958-59 season is on this list. Those neglected are George Yardley, Joe Fulks, and Johnston. Moreover, only 6 players in NBA history have won 3 consecutive scoring titles. Mikan, Chamberlain, McAdoo, Gervin, and Jordan made this list long ago. Johnston is the only player left with that distinction--still forgotten long after those others made this list.

Only 4 players, I believe, have led the NBA in FG% 3 times. Chamberlain, Gilmore and Shaq are already on this list. Again, Johnston is left out.

Only 2 players, I believe, have led the NBA in points and rebounds in the same season: Chamberlain and Johnston.

Was the player you're voting for either the second best player or arguably the best player on a championship team? A few left were (Dennis Johnson, Joe Fulks, for example). Did they accomplish the above as well? Obviously not. Joe Fulks has near and similar accomplishments, but I'll vote for him assuming Johnston ever makes this list.

Moreover, Johnston was one of the best passing centers of his era. He was selected to the All-Star game--back when it meant something--every season except for his rookie campaign and his injury-plagued final season. With his sweeping hook shot, he was a genuinely unstoppable offensive force. Defenders often resorted to fouling him, which is how he led the league in free throws for 3 consecutive seasons (in addition to leading the league in field goals for 2 seasons).

Johnston is also a Hall of Famer. Total Basketball included him in their list of 100 Hundred to Remember. The Association for Professional Basketball Research included him in their list of the 100 Greatest Professional Basketball Players of the 20th Century. He should be on this list--should have already made this list.

Because Vince Carter has lots of fans, thats how he gets votes into the All-Star game every season (besides one).

There was a big Vince Carter push in the 50's to early 60's but tha seems to have died down. Some were just voting for Vince, not because they thought he deserved the spot but because T-Mac got in at #53.

I wouldn't have a problem with a guy like Dennis Johnson getting voted in before him but there were too many 18, 3 and 3 players voted in before Vince.
