Well Dennis Johnson's stats are 14/5/4. You have to realize most of those players who had stats of 18/3/3 played long careers and that why their stats went down.
Some of those guys with the stats of 18/3/3 had seasons like 27/6/5 or 25/5/4, ect. ect but because of their long career, their stats went down.
Vince Carter is at what 24/5/4 for his career which is 9 seasons so far. Do you think if he played 18 seasons like Reggie Miller (one of those 18/3/3 guys) his stats are going to stay at 24/5/4? No way.
If VC plays 18 seasons, his stats will look like 19/4/3. Now if VC plays about 14 seasons, then he'll probaly have an averge like 21/5/4. It's all about longevity.
