Default Discuss the current Knicks team's strengths and weaknesses

What makes this squad better than other teams?

What are their weaknesses?

This sounds like the description of a team who will have trouble winning games.

Two biggest problems are that the Knicks don't know how to win on a consistent basis and that last year's injuries made that worse.

We shall see if the Knicks return healthier, play smarter and more consistently this year.

With better health (especially to Q, Crawford and Marbury), Marbury's increased comfort in playing his new play-maker role (and scoring when it is needed), the addition of Zack Randolph, the Knicks will be interesting to watch and hopefully win many more games.

If the Knicks can become consistent and play D a bit better, they should make the playoffs -- and even go beyond.

I wont speak as a Knick fan. I'll be honest you guys can say what u want.

1) No Defense, No blocking, no pressure on the ball
2)No chemistry which leads to a lot of Turnovers.
3)Free Throws.
4)No high basketball IQ's, The wrong players are playing on this team

Stregnths
1) Rebounding
2)High field goal percentage
3) Deep rotation(this might be a weakness, hurts chemistry)

Strength: - as nasty -offensively- up front as any team in basketball.

Weakness: Defense and redundant talent as opposed to complimentary talent.

I understand what you're saying, however I want you to think of New York When it was back in 2000. Our strengths then are now our weakness. Our weaknesses then are now our strengths. We were the oldest, least athletic starting five, rebounding was almost the worst in the league. Our freethrows were excellent, but we rarely got to the line save Houston. Now we have size, rebounding is one our strengths, I believe we are the best in the league in rebounding. However we do need to focus on offensive rebounding better. If we can cut the turnovers down by 4 or 5 (to start) I would be very happy. Turnovers is what helped many teams win against us last year. Spacing. may still be a weakness, we'll see. Hopefully they worked on that during the offseason.

It doesn't matter what the weakness's or strengths are.

As long as there is no leadership on the court this team will never win a championship.

When somebody steps up and becomes the voice and driving force on the court things will change. This team has no personality.

We've talked about a franchise player, well that's what a franchise player does. He not only puts up numbers, he motivates and drives his teammates. Some times he puts them on his shoulders and takes over a game.

I've seen flashes of it from Marbury but he's too flaky and inconsistent.

I've seen some of it from Curry too but he's not mature enough....yet.

I remember Jordan actually staring down his own player as they went back on defense, I can't remember his name. Pippin was a great player but did not have that manic drive to win. Jordan was the man, so was Joe DiMaggio, if he gave you that look you knew that you screwed up.

So that player has to seek perfection in himself first, then take charge and lift the other players to a higher level, a coach can do just so much.

Ewing did that but without the verbal thing.

We need a leader and Marbury ain't it.

That is our weakness, no leadership, and it comes from the top all the way down. Dolan is a weak leader...

We have the players, what we need is for someone to say I'm the man, prove it by putting up numbers and playing hard all the time. He doesn't have to score 30 points, on the contrary he has to score the winning points or make the key pass, rebound or defensive stop. He has show effort 100% of the time....

When someone does that this team will win big and that player will emerge as the franchise player because he earned it by deeds not by the media saying he is.

There was a period last season where the Knicks were playing consistently.

They for the first time showed composure during the final minutes of games and were winning them.

But when both crawford and lee got injured...all was lost...

Weaknesses:
Shot blocking
Not enough 2-way players, i tihnk a good team needs at least 2 guys in teh game at any given time who are good on both sides of the ball.

Steph was a 2 way player last year, crawford was the year before that. If Q can stay healthy he can be too.

Strength is definitely depth at the forward and guard spots, if Curry goes down we are in trouble, we dont have good depth at C.

I really like Lee. He has great heart and talent.

However, I don't know that Lee can (or will be) the leader.
